In MY opinion, no. I have gotten literally NOTHING from two different rheumatologists I've seen. Both prescribed me pain meds which were the only thing that helped, but then wouldn't give me any more after the one script saying they "don't prescribe narcotics for fibro".... Yet out of ALL the medications they gave me those were the only ones that helped and I only took them during a flare up! If you have a proper pain dr and you have found that narcotics or other pain meds help you during a flare up then a rheumatologist isn't going to be able to help you any further. I don't know WHY they even SEND fibro pts to a rheumatologist... Like I said I'd been to two different ones and got shut down by both after trying literally every med on the market given to fibro patients. Good luck. :)

oh believe me I have so many medical bills in collections it's not even funny. I rather pay the more important bills first before I start chipping away at those. I haven't even paid down my deductible for my insurance plan I've had for a year. I had to pick the higher premium so I don't have co-pays for dr visits or specialist which I'm there every month to three months depending and on like 7 different medications and my co-pay right now is like $5 for each one if that so it is good as far as that goes. It's a shame that this country doesn't want people going the natural way about things they always have to look at it behind a chemical stand point. In china at least I've read people get cured from fibro with just acupuncture alone! The have their own theories about it and the people there get it almost everyday. And the pharm company's probably pay the health insurance companies for keeping people on medication since it's a trillion dollar industry and that's the reason why they don;t pay for holistic therapies. Which I believe should be used first and medication last resort. Who even knows 20+ years from now all the harmful side effects this medication is doing to my body? I don't even want to think about that. It's like do I not take my psych meds and live life being manic depression anxious insomniac to not the side effects or do I? Same goes for steriods and now they want to do botox injections for the migraines I'm getting. I'm so against injections with my last experience with them. It just sucks in plain English.

I have tried everything under the sun as well so i totally feel your pain. I have tried physical therapy, aquatic therapy, acupuncture (which was too much to a fford on a weekly basis $60 a visit and I wasn't going like I should be so it was pointless and I couldnt afford it anymore), TENS machine, chiropractor, trigger piont injections.... I;ve been on soooo manty different meds I can't even tell you how many. NOTHING has helped. I was in the ER today from pain from my trigger point injections in my lower back it's all red and hot to the touch and feels all black and blue. Of course nothing was done just gave me morphine IM and diloudid .5 IM which didn't help and no meds to go home with. how can hardcore drugs not help me?!?!?!?!? I;m so frustrated like you must be. I get migraines all the time and they have no idea why I;m getting them so my Drs are sending me to Thomas Jefferson in Philly. it's suppose to be one of the best hospitals in the country ( at least that's what I'm told). I've tried all the supplements you can try to help with it or people say help but NOTHING. I've tried a hot pack, ice packs, icy hot, tiger balm other topical creams and patches NOTHING! So I totally understand what your going through!

I get triggers once a month a bit useful acupuncture was great but insurance doesn't pay and our insurance Co pays already are so high we are so behind so I can't get them :(.
Our medical system is getting worse and doesn't try to help people get and stay well.
In my opinion if they let acupuncture and western medicine be covered they would maybe not spend so much on medication and we would not need to keep pumping things in our bodies that don't really work long term
