Acupuncture

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have done extensive research and there are not scientific proof that acupuncture works for patient with Fibro. There are other alternative method that work better, such as massage.

Would like to link some of this information, but I am not sure who to do it. Some links show, and some others that do not.

Acupuncture did nothing for me and I went for nearly one year. I love massage, unfortunately the relief only lasts a couple of hours. I feel a little lass stiff after. However, like my massage therapist said, there is nothing really to "treat". My muscles are not really all tight, it just feels that way to me because Fibro is caused by over active nerves causing our pain signals to misfire. I think that's the problem with most body treatments. There is no actual injury to treat.

I totally believe in Reiki. I am actually a certified Healing Touch practitioner. It's a modality that is actually used in hospitals to relieve cancer patients. It's very similar to Reiki, but with small variations.
The massages that I get are for stretching and he works the knots all over my muscles. I only use my guy because he does an excellent job, I most admit that is a little painful the day after, but after that is all said and done I can move freely around the cabin. .

I went to acupuncturist who said she'd be happy to treat me but had other recommendations. She felt functional medicine was making headway with fibromyalgia. She noted bodywork Reiki, not massages. She felt massages might immediately feel good but then set me into a flare 3-4 days later. Could be but also hard to tell if this occurs due sensitivity with shifts in weather this summer.
