Has Anyone Heard About The Drug Guaifenesin Or Tried It?

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've been reading about the drug Guaifenesin which is found in cough medicines and other products. It has claims that it helps with fibromyalgia. Lots of people online are saying they've tried this drug and also followed a Guaifenesin protocol with magnificent results. People are even claiming they've "cured" their fibromyalgia?! Can this be true?? Have people tried this or heard of this?????

Absolutely yes! My daughter started on the program when she was 10. She had a very bad case of fibro and it took two years of increasingly worsening symptoms before we found out about fibromyalgia and the protocol. By the time we did, she was bedridden much of the time.

But it's not easy and initially it causes more pain as the condition essentially goes in reverse (read the book to understand why that is). It took 6 months of following the program religiously before we knew for sure it was working and two years before she was symptom free. My daughter went from rarely being able to make it to school, to graduating high school with two years of college already done and earning straight As.

Here's the tough part: it doesn't cure fibro - you're born with it and currently no one has a cure (but it CAN reverse the symptoms). You'll need to take the medication for life (but it's cheap, non habit forming, and doesn't have side effects). And you have to be religious about what you put on your skin. It sounds ridiculous that natural products on your skin could block a drug, but it's true. You can't cheat on this program, but the results are well worth it.

So yes, it works and as far as I know, it's the only thing that reverses the condition and not just masks it. But it's not fast or easy, so you have to really commit to the program.

Start with the book and if you can fly down to meet with Dr. St. Amand, I strongly recommend it. He designed the protocol and he and his daughter's have fibro as well.

The book is on Amazon and called "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Fibromyalgia."

I found it using what's called Mucous ER. Talked with pharmacist said it was good to use. It has that drug in it Guaifensin (sp). I can say I slept all night for the first time in a long time.last night. Pain has diminished alot.
