What Is Your Fibro Treatment Plan? What Specific Diets, Exercise, Supplement & Exercise Are People Doing?
I can not take meds easily as I Am very sensitive to all meds. My DR say's I am better of finding alternatives as I am always the 1 in the 1 in 100 to get the backlash of a drug.
So I have learned cool showers are much better for me( less pain ) , ice packs.
BUT I just recently bought the tens omron electrotherapy unit from walmart for $40. IT is a miracle
I will be buying the nicer better quality one on amazon as I just wanted to buy a cheaper one first to see if it would help. The cheaper one will be my on the go unit.
Normally folding clothes will almost cripple me as the middle of my back will feel like I broke my back and that always starts a domino effect of pain.
I tried it on the middle of my back and 15 min later NO PAIN it was wonderful.
Last night I started RSL and HIP pain on both sides.
I used it on one side to compare. results??
One side had horrible RSL and HIP pain for several hours
The side with the electrical unit - 15 min later NO PAIN. and no pain the rest of the night .
After coming to the end of the line with what mainstream medicine can offer me, (I've had fibro for 20 years), I'm now looking to alternative, holistic methods of healing.
I'm reading a book called, "Treating & Beating Fibromyalgia and CFS" by Dr Rodger H Murphree. He is a biochemist who has devoted the last 20 odd years of his life to the research and treatment of these illnesses. The book makes extremely interesting reading. It reads like a medical textbook in a lot of places but that's reassuring to me because it illustrates his dedication and expertise.
I have sent off for his "Jumpstart Pack" which is a combination of vitamins, minerals and amino acids.
I have been encouraged by the testimonies in his book from people whose lives have been turned around and who are now almost symptom-free. He has helped thousands of people.
Also I've been reading about hyperbaric oxygen therapy being able to cure fibromyalgia. So I'm waiting to be put on the list for this, meantime they have offered me "oxygen on the wall", which is just breathing pure oxygen for an hour. Apparently this gives half the benefits of the hyperbaric oxygen but will still give a benefit.
I can't take any painkillers now, having been on narcotics for over 18 years. The resultant damage to my body precludes me being able to take more than paracetamol for the pain.
I've suspected for some time that I have a wheat/gluten sensitivity and Dr Murphee talks about these things in his book. Once I'm (hopefully) feeling better from the jumpstart pack, I intend to take his advice and test myself for food sensitivities. In the meantime, I'm going with my gut (literally!) and have cut out gluten in my diet.
I only started the vitamins etc. 5 days ago but can report that I'm already feeling less pain and sleeping much better, so here's hoping ...
I use heating pads, hot baths with Epsom salts and magnesium flakes, bio freeze, yoga, foam rolling, walking and lyrica. The lyrica helps but doesn't take all of the pain away but it keeps me from being in tears every night. Anti inflammatory meds haven't helped me much. The bio freeze works really well for me. I also use blue emu or arnica for pain as well. I've just been diagnosed and am waiting to get into the rheumatologist.
