College And Fibromyalgia

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭
Austin, TX

Is anyone else going through college? I'm going to a community college right now but it's hard even with Student accessibility services. I am moving 45mjn away from home soon to go to a 4 year. I'm nervous. Any tips? Advice?

@A MyFibroTeam Member, first I'd like to commend you for having the courage.
Immediately my mind went back to my attending Community College as a returning adult student. Fibro and College I believe can work out with a lot of discipline.
Definitely managing your time even more so wisely than you've ever done before. Getting as much rest as you can. Eating as healthy as you can whatever you can take. Staying on top of your organizational skills. Utilizing the Student accessibility Assistance as you are already.

Your fibro awareness is half your battle being won already And just simply being kind to yourself and giving it the best you've got.
I personally wish you all the success in the world I look forward to hearing about the outcome.

I'm about to move five hours away to go to a four year college too I'm scared but I know if I manage time well and rest when needed and make sure I get a good night sleep as many nights as I can I'll be able to do it. Believing in yourself is half the battle don't let it get you down.

I am a college student as well. I live in Barrie and commute on the train an hour and a half each way, and have long days. My advice is rest when you can, even if other people are doing things. Listen to your body. I know it's hard having fibro and being a student, but you can do it. Manage your time well to help yourself not get too stressed, work on things in manageable steps, and rest when you need to.

I am a student currently in my third year. it is a struggle but remember what the end result will be. also a good group of understanding college friends will be key to getting you through your studies. always remember you can do it and never give up.

I'm getting ready to return to Graduate School. It's intimidating to go back in my 40's and with fibro but I really want to complete my degree. Thinking positive and trying to plan things to help with my success like making freezer meals and handling as many issues before I go back in January. Good Luck!
