Embarrassing Question For Ladies

Do any of you ladies have fibro type pain ever hit you in your rectal or vaginal areas? That burning, aching, or stabbing type pain. I have had bouts of it, I believe, over the years, especially around the time of my menses. However, it is now happening more frequently. I speculate it is because of me entering perimenopause.

Members validated the experience of fibromyalgia-related pelvic pain, with many describing sharp stabbing sensations, vaginal spasms, and rectal pain that sometimes radiates to the hips and legs, often worsening around menstruation or during perimenopause. Several members shared practical strategies including staying well-hydrated to reduce muscle spasms, using heat packs or hot showers, trying chiropractic care with dry needling for nerve pain, and taking prescribed medications like macrodantin for related bladder pressure. A recurring theme was the importance of naming these often-dismissed symptoms, with members finding relief in learning terms like proctalgia fugax and recognizing that while doctors may attribute everything to fibro, the community's shared experiences offer validation and coping strategies when medical options feel limited.

Raising my hand here ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ,
I get exactly what you have described in both areas south of the border.
Vaginal spasms and stabbing pain that make me wince and take a big breath. I have a benign lump on the edge of my vaginal wall and it feels like itโ€™s being stabbed with a long steel red hot sharp knitting needle ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ฑ
The rectal pain can be a stabbing feeling but more often itโ€™s a sharp constant pain. Over days it will spread to my coccyx, down the back of my leg and into my hip and glute, usually the right leg. I get my chiropractor to adjust me and she will give me dry needling. Usually everything is out and my nerves are on fire. Dry needling helps settle the raw nerves. I Drink lots of water and have hot shower after and use a heat pack for the next day or 2 whichhelps me get through it. I also will for it to move elsewhere.
I think the rectal pain is triggered by my hips and IBS. And the vaginal pain is part of my hormones. It has always been there since I first had intercourse. It would become more frequent around menses and since becoming peri menopausal itโ€™s become worse. However that might just because of the FM and I feel everything so much more than earlier in my life.
Youโ€™re not alone I read about these areas of pain as a less talked about symptom of FM in my endless pursuit of fibromyalgia information.
Hang in there ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ. Hope knowing this helps you cope.
Sending you feel good vibes for low pain days ahead ๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’–

Well I have a different problem with my vaginal area. I can orgasum anytime I think about it. They aren't the intence kind that you have with intercourse, but small quick achy tingling. I've asked my GYN about it but she didn't know if it was related to fibromyalgia. I did research and there is a condition that causes this sensation. I also think that it's fibro because of our nerves being over active. Occasionally while having intercourse I will have a sharp pain from my vaginal walls. This is such a crazy condition for sure. My feet can start hurting even if I've been in bed for 2 days.

I get random stabbing pain everywhere. Surprise attacks that take my breath away and cause loud sudden growns that in turn startle those around me. By the time they ask what's wrong the pain is gone. I usually respond "demons" and carry on with what I was doing.

I've given up reporting long lists of symptoms to my doctor. Everything gets chalked upto fibro.

Yes, and it is incredibly painful and miserable. I talked to my gynecologist about it last week at my yearly exam. I don't know about yours, but sometimes my discomfort is also accompanied by pressure and muscle spasm like pain at times. Unfortunately, there apparently isn't much to be done about it. He suggested that I make sure I'm very hydrated to combat the muscle spasms. That does help that aspect of it. As for the rest of the discomfort, I just have to wait it out.
