A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

My husband claims that going unde anesthesia is the best sleep he's ever had.... I'm having a colonoscopy in the next month or so( I'm terrified to go under) so he said maybe it would reset my body,??? Any thoughts or truth? πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”

In truth? Who knows?! Fibromyalgia is such a weird bird, it does whatever it wants. But...I've had two surgeries fairly recently (Pelvic Organ Prolapse in Dec 2021 rectocele and a torn rotator cuff Dec 2022), and my Fibro actually flared up from lack of movement because both had me laid up for a while. However, colonoscopy sedation is very mild, and you're up and at 'em in an hour! Don't sweat it!! The preparation isn't fun, but the test is very easy. You'll eat breakfast on the way home. Currently I'm trying ketamine infusions which IS supposed to reset my brain, and although I'm knocked out during it, I don't notice anything the next day. When I was taking ketamine every month, I did notice a marked improvement in my Fibromyalgia and a great improvement in my peripheral neuropathy, but my migraines did not change.

I've undergone multiple surgeries thru the years requiring anesthesia. Most recent surgeries was two lung biopsies (Bronchoscopy & Mediastinoscopy). Anesthesia was good. No complications with it. Always remember the way you go under will be the way you come out. For example, if you're calm coming under then you're be calm coming out. I always ask for something to come me down beforehand, which calms me down. Just ask the anesthesiologist when he or she comes to your room to talk with you.
You're be just fine and your surgery will go well.
Hope this helps you!!

I've had so many things removed from me I told my hubby I'm not sure I am a woman anymore! But I always breezed through the anesthesia. It didn't reset my body though. I am still a hopeless insomniac! πŸ™ƒ I pray a lot before though, because, like you, I am terrified each time. Luckily, before the big anesthesia, they give you a drug to relax you! I'm all for those drugs.
