I'm getting mixed info, trying to figure out if it's for me.
Any input appreciated 💚

Exactly what I was going to say, Kobus.

I’ve done EMDR, but first I’ve heard of brainspotting. I like the idea that it is more client led, where EMDR is more therapist led. And I see it is a somatic approach- I have really benefited from somatic therapies.

Quickly scanning I’m seeing resources saying it helps with chronic pain and fatigue, and specifically conditions such as fibromyalgia.

Check it out! Very interesting.

As for yoga, I didn't start noticing way more effectiveness untill I got the yoga swing.

Now I feel so guilty when I'm too unwell to be able to do it lololol

Books used to be my thing, but now I struggle with the reading and do the videos or podcasts, articles too 😁 always finding ways to adapt

That’s another point I’m also considering, I haven’t found somatics especially beneficial.

Then I deal with stuff like “oh you just don’t want it to work or get help”. I just don’t want to waste my time and possibly risk another terrible therapist incident, assuming I don’t want help because a therapy isn’t working.

Current therapist was giving me info on some ptsd therapies.

I’m going to do psychedelic assisted at some point though.

Also confused if I’m a good candidate for emdr. I can’t remember a lot of the things that traumatized me and the truama is extensive.

We’re talking years and years, quite possibly a decade or 2 of being traumatized on an often daily basis.

I’ve been pretty turned off from therapy for awhile and more into self help and support groups.

Yoga 💯, focusing on the present and things to build a better future 😁 anything positive that I am able to do to redirect all that negativity.

Was listening to a huberman podcast about ptsd last night and they mentioned how beneficial yoga can be for ptsd 🥳

And thank you for reading my story 😘😂

wRen I stole your format because it’s easier to read 😜

Yeah, to each their own, ya know. But I will say the somatics workshops I took part in were primarily yoga and dance.

And for EMDR, it’s often used for repression. I did not enjoy the process.

Therapy is like anything, it has its time and place. And finding a good fit is imperative. Aside from everyone being different, it’s all about the timing for any of the above mentioned modality. Like I waiting for the stars to align just right. ✨

Keep trusting your intuition, only you know what you need and when you are ready for what.

Self help books are my jam- it’s where I live. I dubbed myself a self help junkie from the start. And now it makes us cool 😂 📚📓

I find yoga and any exercise really are so good for bringing you back and grounding you in the present moment. Plus, it makes my brain work better and keeps the fibro and other stuff in better check.

In regards to the formating, my brain thanks you. When I do, and often can, get on a roll I feel like it’s less exhausting. 🤗
