Do You Follow A Specific Diet To Help With Fibromyalgia?
Well You All! I am finally in remission after severe, debilitating Fibro since I was a child, (and I will be 86 next monthš¤Ŗ.) I must say that most of my lack of Fibro symptoms seem to have been connected to my "gut"!!! First of all I take NO
nightshade vegetables, (google), No gluten, very little sugar, very little dairy, no MSG, and no alcohol. I take systemic enzymes, (from my Endocrinologist), and prebiotics and probiotics, (from my PM), I am happily enjoying my old age with very little Fibro symptoms!! For me I found when I stomach is in good shape, the rest of me follows!! I hated giving up some of the things I love to eat, but in the end I found it was well worth it!!! I think the biggest help was adding the systemic enzymes - Zymessence - online - no prescription - Dr, Wong's site - $100 for 2 months. My second biggest help by stopping the nightshade vegetables - tomatoes, potatoes, chilies, etc. They have lectins in them which irritate joints .!!! Number three was the pre and probiotics!!!!! I wish you well, and hope that if you get your "gut" in good condition and keep it there for good while, you will easy up on your Fibro suffering!! My Rheumatologist found my recovery so amazing that he released me completely about 3 yrs. ago!!!! I have read so many doctors online saying that they are now realizing how important one's "gut" heath is !!! It didn't happen overnight !!!!!!. It took several months, but I DID WORK FOR ME!!!! I hope it well help you all too!!!! Be Well, I send my Blessing and good thought your way!!!! š

PS I've waited a couple of yrs. to be sure these things really did work for me - I've been really free of most Fibro symptoms for several years and had no flares at all!!
My musculoskeletal neurologist suggested the Mediterranean diet. It is really simple and you don't eliminate much just really cut down on red meats and sugary foods. And, there is wine. Haha. I feel best when I follow. This way if eating. When I don't I do feel a little worse. Scientifically there is no way of eating for this disorder
Tracy, Iām so sorry you are feeling so disheartened at this time of your life. I recognize the feeling! Iāve been there! I can feel your pain and frustration. I was raised to be very religious so I understand. I have no disrespect for people who are devote, many people around me are, itās just not me. I believe in my own way. All I can say is I donāt blame God for anything unpleasant that happens to me while Iām here on this earthly plane (to be clear, Iām not saying your blaming God either) but I do believe in doing what I can to help me have a better quality of life, mentally and physically and if eating a certain way, eliminating certain foods, adding certain supplements, helps me ā¦ then Iām willing to give it a try. Itās all experimentation and I like to take āactionā to try and help myself. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesnāt. The biggest thing for me though is having allowed myself to grieve who I once was, how I saw myself in the future and having acceptance for the new me. Acceptance is huge! Once I stopped mentally fighting this condition and having acceptance, Iāve had more peace which has made a lot of the pain subside. That doesnāt mean, āoh yay, now I can go do this or thatā. I have to be mindful as to what I do so I can preserve. I still have days where I get angry at myself, my bodyās ineptitude but it doesnāt last for long and most of the time Iām ok. That being said, itās helped to find a doctor who has validated what Iāve been feeling and diagnosing me properly so I know the pain is real and not just in my headā¦. Thereās no magic pill to get to this state of mind. I wish there was so I could tell how to get it! All I can say is do what you feel helps you the most! If itās prayer for you, then do that! If itās diet, then do that. Or both! It might help, it might not but either way, try to find a path to acceptance. Peace will follow. If someone told me this two years ago, it would have angered me. I would have thought they were just spewing some hippy stuff but Iāve been there! Iāve grappled with pain, with anger and truly, finding āacceptanceā has been the biggest help of all! I hope this helps youā¦ give yourself time. Itās the best asset weāve got! šā¤ļø
I believe that Our Lord and Savior helps me get through every day. With fibromyalgia I have to do some of the same things the rest of you do. I also have gastroparesis which means I really have to watch, not just what I eat, but also how much. I never eat after 2:00pm so my system has time to digest everything before bedtime. I take the maximum amount of gabapentin so I can keep my pain under control. Fibromyalgia makes life difficult. So many people don't understand why I am limited in what I do. I just turned 75 and appear to be strong and healthy, but as you all know, it's only an appearance. God bless you all and stay safe and healthy.
We are all so different even though we all have fibromyalgia. I need protein of some kind 3-4x a day. No processed foods with additives food coloring and natural flavorings. No high fat=stomach aches IBS. I love greens and apples and pineapple especially. Take Magnesium Malate, helps pain. Same for cbd and Tylenol
