How Do You Diagnose Fibromyalgia

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭
Durban, ZA

How do you diagnose fibromyalgia?
How do you know its not ME, Lupus, or Limes, or Guillain Barre Syndrome?
Had blood tests done, and all come back negative.
All the signs and symptoms could be any of the above.

You can be tested for all of the things you listed. For me did blood tests for what you listed & they discovered I had RA. My Dr sent me to a rheumatologists & she said I had most of the trigger points for Fibro. She ran a panel of blood tests on me & ruled everything else it could be out & that's how I was diagnosed.

Also if you have a doctor who is familiar with this disorder, they usually order a blood draw which tests for inflammation. Go in with a list of questions... ask them all and always go with a trusted helper if at all possible.

All the blood test are to rule out the other thing that fibro mimics. If all blood tests ,x-ray,nerve conductions and lab work come back neg, then they do the " poke test". If they peel you off the cealing or pick you up off the floor after then you have fibro.
