After YEARS of fibro, I'm reading that the thyroid COUld have HUGE impact on fibromyalgia patients. NO doctor has ever looked into this. I always have to do my own research
Has anyone had their thyroid levels checked? Not just the regular tsh level, but the tsh 3, tsh 4, and so on. Years ago my tsh level was in the low normal range-like right on the line. So the doctor did nothing further. I recently stumbled upon a sight where these symptoms of mine were falling under the low levels of… read more

Members shared widespread experiences connecting thyroid issues with fibromyalgia, with many describing hypothyroidism, Hashimoto's disease, or complete thyroid removal, and several expressing frustration that doctors dismissed their concerns or relied solely on lab values that fell within normal ranges despite persistent symptoms like fatigue, hair loss, and weight changes. Several members emphasized the critical importance of self-advocacy, suggesting strategies such as seeking endocrinologists or thyroid specialists, requesting comprehensive thyroid panels beyond standard TSH tests, and asking about adrenal function through saliva testing when doctors are unwilling to investigate further. A recurring theme was the need to trust your own body over lab numbers, find providers who listen and take fibromyalgia seriously, and persist in seeking answers even when the medical system fails to connect overlapping symptoms between thyroid dysfunction and fibromyalgia.

Mine had to be removed it was so diseased before it was checked, and honestly I am one of the lucky ones because I had a Dr. that new to check. It was within 10 years of my diagnosis my Thyroid was removed and I was asymptomatic it got picked up on during a GI check while I was being scoped.

@thyroid yes I have my thyroid levels checked and see an endocrinologist. I had hypothyroidism for 20 yrs and then was diagnosed with thyroid cancer so the FM has gotten much worse since then. Symptoms are different for hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism so the first thing you need to know is which one you actually have.If you're in the low range you're likely hypo, once you start taking meds like levothyroxine it takes a while to get the levels right. Sometimes levels look right but symptoms still persist so meds nd to be altered even Dr. will insist levels are ok. Good luck and gentle hug.

@A MyFibroTeam Member was there a particular brand you purchased that helped? I suffer through weight gain, hair falling out, swelled tongue, all part of hypothyroid. I would like to try your suggestion.
