Has Anyone Else Found That Reducing/eliminating Parabens Is Helpful?
I've done so and while I can't say I've noticed any improvement to my symptoms, it could prevent possible future issues, which is sometimes all we Fibro Fighters can hope for! ♥
Hi @A MyFibroTeam Member! Great question. Parabens are preservatives used in lots of things like cosmetices, hair products/color, topical medications, skin moisturizers, etc. Methylparaben, polyparaben, butylparaben, are a few you might find. Over the years there has been concern about them being a carcinogen, but more recently some folks have thought that an overload of them might exaserbate some pain syndromes because they are endocrine disrupters. Here are a couple links I found. I hope this information helps. Please don't hesitate to ask for more clarification. Have a wonderful day :-)

I've eliminated most of the paraben products. The only difference I've noticed is a modest increase in energy/motivation. I have not noticed an improvement in pain status. Since I'm older, perhaps the cumulative damage of parabens has already taken it's toll on the body. I had a partial thyroidectomy in my twenties and I try to go easy on the endocrine disruptors. As with everything "knowledge is power", back in the day, not much was known about parabens.
what are parabens?
