Fibro Meds
Hi all, I am newly diagnosed. I seek Naturopathic care for most everything. My PM&R Doctor wants to put me on Lyrica. Who has tried it and which of the three do you take now? Thanks!
Hi there, I've been on Lyrica for years. I take 100mg 3X a day. I've tried coming off of it a few times to see if it's really helping, and because it's very expensive. But every time I did I realized how well it was really working. It really brings my pain level down. I also take a muscle relaxer at bedtime. Keep asking questions and reading up as much as you can. There are many groups on FB and a lot of info online. I just found this site, and I wish something like this was around when I was first diagnosed.
I tried all the fibro drugs but none helped me. I have had fibro for over 20 years now and tried everything knowing to mankind (except acupuncture...cant afford it) for fibro. Nothing really helped me. I currently am on strong pain meds and do my best to eat healthy and stay active. My best advice to you is to try things and see if it helps you...and when you find something that does help stay with it but also know that if may stop helping....I have had so many different drug regimens....nothing really worked. Stay with your natural care yet don't be afraid to try other things....it is a constant struggle to find something that does help.
I take 25 mg of Cymbalta at night, helps the night pains and the stabbing pain during the day. I also take Bupropion twice a day 75 mg each.
I tried it...it did not help me at all. I got a coupon from my Dr to get a free trial. It does cost about $300 for a months supply. There is also gabapentin that is in the same drug class...that was not helpful for me, however it does work for some. Gabapentin is much more affordable. Good luck!
I forgot to add that using an anti-seizure med called toperimate controlled my burning foot pain and headaches, it is also used for bipolar diease and weight loss. so if you have troubles with weight gain or mood stablization, this may be something you might want to try, but you do not have to have either of these problems to use it. Some docs use Keppra or depakote, toperimate may be troublesome if you tend to form kidney stones tho.
