Has Anyone Tried Medical Marijuana For Fibromyalgia?
I was just wondering with fibromyalgia and all the other things that come with it. Is anyone in an area with approved medical marijuana & if so has it been recommended or does it help much? And what is the cost like? Does your insurance cover it?
I do not live in a state where it is legal but if I found out I could get some relief, I might move to one. I think my state (Tx) will be one of the last to approve it.
I use cannabis regularly rather than narcotic pain relievers. There are so many options from creams to edibles and there are even strains you smoke that help pain but don't get you high (high cbd low THC). Insurance doesn't cover it unfortunately. 😣

MY ANSWER:
Yes, I have tried (and have now used for 7 years) medical marijuana for fibromyalgia. I use it for pain management, sleep, and a very mild muscle relaxer. (I cannot tolerate even the lowest prescription muscle relaxant.) It was recommended to me after a thorough investigation of my case by a real Physician with knowledge of cannabis. It helped me tremendously. The cost is always out of my pocket. I've been fortunate to find people who grow only for those using it for medicinal use -- as we are not looking for a high.
Since your state has not yet approved it, you can ask yourself a few questions to rule out some important things:
1) Does smoke irritate your eyes, nose or throat? If so, you probably will have the same reaction to smoked pot.
2) Have you ever used it recreationally before? If so, you can rely - at least in part - on how you reacted to it then to know how you might react to it now. (For me, at young ages between 19 & 25 yrs old it was difficult at worst as sometimes it caused paranoia and sometimes even confused thoughts. Most times I had a pleasant high. At current age 56 using medicinally which is much less in amount: no problem.)
3) Always remember: when you use something medicinally that is normally used or thought of as "recreational", you will be using a minuscule amount in medical usage compared to what is used recreationally.
Just as a for instance (not to be used as hard fact): Getting high with 5 friends, when I was young, we might smoke a couple of joints between the 5 of us. Using it as a medicine, I take only 1-3 puffs (actually, you inhale, hold, then exhale, and it's called a "hit" rather than a puff) every 6 hours 3x a day. But that is because I had 18 hours every day with no pain medication at all.
Hope this is helpful.
My insurance does. But it's unusual insurance. It's calked quickcard and its a health spending account.
I used to use Kush and it helped with the pain and the nausea that comes with the pain meds prescribed by my Dr. Unfortunately I live in Idaho and it's not legal so I don't have it anymore. Haven't tried the oil. Don't know where to get it.
Thanks everyone, good information!
