Has Anyone Looked Into Getting A Trained Service Dog, Or Having One Trained, For Stability/walking?
Between my fibro and genetic peripheral neuropathy (and a little vertigio), I am experiencing balance problems when walking. I've fallen four times over the past six weeks and although I use a cane on bad days, I'm feeling less confidant every day. Losing my balance is scary difficult to safely recover with my being unable to feel my feet. in the USA you aren't required to "register" your dog anywhere. I would suggest these 2 links. They are the laws and Q & A of Service Dogs. Also Assistance Dogs International is a good place to look for an organization to train a dog for you. Please be aware there are scam organizations out there that don't actually train the dogs or don't actually know what they are doing. The ADI ones are certified through ADI and more regulated then some trainer down the street. In the USA your also capable of training your own dog. However I would suggest getting a very competent dog trainer to work with.

I did a brief "drive-by" of the site and then checked out the link for Anything Pawsable which is an incredible resource for professional training, personal training, what to look for in ANY breed to find a compatible dog for training . . . I could spend hours, maybe days, going through it all with everything being highly informative and helpful. I am heavily indebted to you for finding this site. Saying thank you seems so inadequate, but THANK YOU!
