Overlapping Conditions (Bonus Features Of FM)

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I printed this page that lists the "overlapping conditions" of FM. I checked off the ones I have and will take to PCP appointment tomorrow. Why didn't any of the docs give me this list ? It would have been helpful to know all the possible problems associated with FM instead of wondering why I had so many things wrong with me all of a sudden.

Surprise ! @A MyFibroTeam Member. My GI doc enlightened me and said FM , OCD, personality changes, and all those overlapping conditioned fall under the heading as "Hypersympathetic Syndrome". Too much adrenaline. Our brain isn't producing the balanced amounts of serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine. My son has Attention deficit disorder and that comes from the brain not producing the correct amounts of same chemicals. That's why we describe symptoms of forgetfulness, unable to think straight. My rhuematologist told me that's why FM people need to take either cymbalta or amytriptalin to balance these. That's the source of all our conditions. Then we have to treat each of the conditions individually. I'm still learning. But there is a brain problem creating all of those conditions.

I just had a look at the list wow ,all my other conditions are on the list. All my doctors and specialists told me all my conditions are completely separate and not related to one another. This seems to suggest otherwise.

I have many of those overlapping conditions Been dealing w/ the IBS so much so this last week. How can a physician diagnose this? I see my Rheum. tomorrow, was going to ask. Also, this last year been dealing w/ painful bladder. Had to go to PT to learn to strengthen pelvic floor muscles. Still having issues though.

So it makes me think about how some FM people are told by physicians that "they don't believe" in FM.
