Walking Gait All Messed Up But No Pain

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi friends
Please help! I'm going crazy! My walking gait literally changed over the course of a few days. I used to walk normally and then now I kinda have this step -knee jerk/bounce/pop - step - repeat same weird bounce. Nothing hurts. Nothing is swollen. I am now having to use a cane. What is going on ? It's not a TIA - went to ER when this first happened - they say it was exhaustion, weakness and maybe meds. Will call rheumatologist tomorrow and maybe neurologist needs to examine… read more

This happens to me frequently - u describe it so well lol I've never had it investigated as it comes and goes. I just assume my muscles/ligaments get tired and can't perform normally, like they get lazy! I hope it goes away for you like it does me or that investigation can help you tackle it

I have to use a cane as well. My neurologist wanted to have my tests repeated from 5 years ago. I can't go back right now because I have no insurance. I have a lawyer working on my disability.

I also use a cane as much for balance as for help with walking. Should have just it last week when I fell in the grocery store parking lot and couldn't get up! So dizzy I'm just waiting to get pulled for drunk driving because someone has seen me weave to my car. Less dizzy driving than walking for some reason though being a passenger in in heavy traffic kills me.

Thanks for the replies. This is immensely helpful. Now here's an important question --did the walking get better once you were out of the flare? Or is it something that I should prepare to see as long term?
