Foggy Brain

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

What can I do to help with my foggy brain? I'm a nurse and get really embarrassed when I can't think of my words.

I agree with Angel, I do not know what I would do without my notes, lists and reminders. It helps exponentially.

@A MyFibroTeam Member...Well this is a hard one to answer. For me the fog can be caused by SO many different things...too much pain...constant aches...headaches...lack of sleep....even weather shifts all cause I "stuffiness" in my head which then leads to Fibro fog. I am a bit of a writer and I've always prided myself on my vocabulary and ability to convey information...and it is SO frustrating when I can remember a stupid word like Kitchen or Counter. For me sometimes it helps to take an "extra" dose of my amphetamine - I take Dexedrine as I'm diagnosed with non-restorative sleep/narcolepsy and this med sort of "tricks" my brain into thinking that it got a good night's sleep. It just happens that the drug also keeps me more alert which translates to my brain being more clear.
Have you had a sleep study done...is there a chance that you have a similar sleep disorder and treatment for that can help a little with the fog?
Don't know if that helped but a least you know that you're not alone!
Light and Hugs,
Cyna

I take meds for ADD. Adderall, in fact. It is a stimulant so it helps me TREMENDOUSLY!!!! Not only does it help with concentration, memory, and completing tasks, it helps me "wake-up" in the morning, and get going! Ask your doc about it - it can't hurt to ask. There are lots of those types of drugs out there...... I couldn't get out of bed without mine. I'm a zombie all day if i don't take it! Hugs!

Hi,
I'm a nurse too and I know about the fibro fog and nursing. I drew blood on a male pt last week and put the wrong gender on the lab req.
I am making dumb mistakes and yes I have a problem with thinking of the right words sometimes. I just go blank for a few seconds.
My short term memory is a little lazy too. I don't know if it is from all the stress in my life right now or what.
I am working for a company that has a contract with Federal Occupational health, I love my job but being in charge is very stressful.

This is something I find so difficult. I work as a special needs teaching assistant and it has started to affect my job. I have lost a lot of confidence and constantly write post it notes to try an help. The more I stress about it the worse it gets. I am just starting to accept it now for what it is x
