Members responded to a desperate plea for sleep help by sharing a wide range of medications and approaches they use, from prescription options like Trazodone, Ambien, Klonopin, and muscle relaxers to over-the-counter melatonin and Benadryl, with many taking combinations of multiple medications to finally achieve rest. Several members emphasized the importance of sleep studies to diagnose underlying conditions like sleep apnea or narcolepsy, which can require specialized treatments like CPAP machines or medications such as Xyrem. A recurring theme was the balance between trying natural remedies first versus accepting that sometimes medication is necessary, along with strong community support for those who face judgment from others about their treatment choices.

@A MyFibroTeam Member....lol...your bedtime "cocktail" sounds a lot like mine...well not the same meds but the same "kind" of meds. For me its: Lamictal (Bipolar), Trazodone, Nucynta (pain), Lyrica, Zyrtec, Magnesium, Calcium, Krill Oil, Biotin, Vitamin D3, 5-HTTP and 2 Fiber Gummies.
Melatonin helped me for a little while...so did Tylenol PM and/or Simply Sleep (which is Tylenol PM without the Tylenol).
@A MyFibroTeam Member - I started at 50 mg about 7 or 8 years ago and that is still my dosage. My suggestion...try a couple of the non-script stuff first and then listen to your body and go from there. Good luck!

I take Trazodone to help me sleep. It is an antidepressant but is used often for sleep. It is not addictive.

@A MyFibroTeam Member...Oh my goodness! Sounds like a lot of negativity thrown your way for a simple comment! Of course there are a lot of people that are afraid of going the medication route. As for me...I take a dual approach...meds for the things I need meds for and massage, acupuncture, reflexology and Reiki for everything else!

OK, at bedtime, I take Ambien, Klonopin, Abilify, Tizanidine (muscle relaxer that makes you pretty sleepy), melatonin, and benadryl.
