What To Do For Hip Pain

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭
Sittingbourne, UK

I have had pain in my hips for many years. Sometimes it is worse on the left and sometimes on the right. It now seems to be bad on both sides. I have tried, am trying lots of different solutions. I am now on gabapentin and tramadol. I rub ibugel on my hips at night, sleep with a memory form mattress topper and sleep with a pillow between my legs!

Sitting at my computer all day is not great either 😒

Do anyone have recommendations for either during the day or for sleeping?
Thank you

I do a little yoga and I meditate, I also walk in a warm pool and do stretches, I hate having hip pain! It seems to get worse with cold weather,

Are you sure it's your hips? I thought I was having hip and knee pain but it was osteoarthritis in my sacro iliac joints. Pain gone after getting a steroid epidural.

Make sure you're sitting right. I believe raising knees slightly above hip level can help (I.e. Put something on the floor to raise your legs)

@A MyFibroTeam Member. I did use tape for 3 days but I broke out in rash don adhesive. Didn't help much with pain. I put on neck, shoulder/neck, arms, lower back and knees.

@A MyFibroTeam Member. When bone joints fuse with bone especially in the sacroiliac joint (can be any where song spine between vertebrae) it's called ankylosing spondylosis. If you have a blood test and have the HLA-b27 marker it's a genetic condition that makes you more prone to getting this. I am positive for the HLA-b27 marker but I only have osteoarthritis in my sacrailiac joints. No fusion. I get steroid injection with sedation which helps the pain. The pain feels like lower back pain and hip pain. Worth getting an X-ray to see if that's the cause of your hip pain.
