Hi peeps x

I've just seen my Dr and she's changing me from Mt 75mg twice a day of pregabalin to Gabapentin. .. slowly working group my way up to 900 mg a day x
I'm terrified I've heard horror stories about Gabapentin. . Please ... what should I expect?
A panicky Bushbaby would appreciate any help or advice x

i would agree that is very surprising to be on both, but perhaps there is a reason. I would ask your doc about it to be on the safe side. How much tramadol do you take a day @A MyFibroTeam Member? I currently take about 150-200mg but also take 300mg lyrica. I find tramadol much better than codeine as it doesnt make me as fuzzy in the head :)

I found gabapentin very good for a while, in the end I had some side effects like stomach pain and fuzzy head that did not go away but for many people they do fade. I think it was a better painkiller than the pregablin I am on now but this gives me less side effects. They always try gabapentin first, if it doesn't suit you then ask for pregablin to try. Make sure you increase very slowly with the gabapentin , wait each time an extra day that you feel OK to then put it up by 50 /100 mg. @A MyFibroTeam Member Angel I s right we all process drugs differently- I adapted very fast, others take longer.

I have started the gabapentin about 2 weeks ago. Had to drop lyrica because of anxiety. I take cymbalta as well. Currently at 300mg 2x day gabapentin, and I am having no side effects, but more importantly, I am, for the first time in 4 months, getting some pain relief. Hallelujah! Best of luck finding your answer(s).
It does take time to strike the right balance, and patience I've found is not a symptom of fibro, but hang in-your answer will show itself.

I was on Gabapentin for one and a half months and it was working great with my nerve pain than last week I started itching and swelling in my face and hands and when I would scratch these little white bumps that burned a lot showed up everywhere all over my stomach ,back legs anyway it was the medicine so I had to come off of it . I have found I can only take it f or severe pain for a couple of days . It's a great med I hope it works for you good luck😆
