Is Fibro Pain, Pain Just To Be Touched Anywhere On The Body

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been under a lot of work stress lately and have had a major increase in pain. I was previously in denial with my diagnosis but think I need to be accepting it. I hurt anywhere I'm touche, even just to rest my arm somewhere is painful. Is this fibro?

Members overwhelmingly confirmed that widespread pain from touch, even from clothing or resting limbs on surfaces, is a classic fibromyalgia symptom, with stress being a major trigger that intensifies flares. Several members shared practical coping strategies including hot baths with lavender, massage therapy, magnesium oil or gel applied topically, eliminating gluten and sugar from their diets, using heating pads, taking regular breaks during activities, and medications like Cymbalta, Lyrica, and Gabapentin, though experiences with side effects varied widely. A recurring theme was the importance of getting a proper diagnosis from a rheumatologist through tender point testing and ruling out conditions like lupus or thyroid issues, accepting the reality of the diagnosis without guilt, listening to your body's limits, and finding a supportive medical team that truly understands fibromyalgia.

Generally it is all fibro. I have heard that if you get new or worsening symptoms though, you should always get them checked out just to be sure. None of us are doctors and it can be easy just to link our symptoms to fibro because there are so many symptoms. But it's best to get things checked by a professional who can generally put your mind at ease.

Since I gave up fizzy drinks and sugar my symptoms are a lot less.

I totally agree with you @A MyFibroTeam Member! I've seen myself and my friends run around like hamsters
In a wheel because of so many doctors and specialists who don't know much about this illness. We should be able to interview our doctors, as I swear we know way more about our illness than they do.
I actually saw the link below on my FB feed yesterday. It's a doctor apologizing for doctor's lack of knowledge about fibro. Nice to hear for a change!

Be careful you don't get caught in a vicious circle of pain and stress as i found out myself one causes the other to worsen and around and around we go. Touching or being touched can hurt, it can be agony at times even if just resting your arm on a desk or being hugged so i would say yes it could be fibro but as my friend Marie said go see a doctor just in case it is something else. Take care

Yes..pain is Fibro..it took me a year to except my life had changed..I am a go getter..but I could see I would instigate flares by going and going like I use to.Working full time for me is out of the question..it brings on way tooo many flares.....Reumatologist can diagnose Fibro..which will help later for either part-time work also applying for Social Security...Pain is on the forefront of out thinking..which is why cognitive problems become severe.. ( memory ) etc..I won Social Security because of cognitive problems..did not pass the cognitive tests..my brain shuts down when under too much stress or have to much pain..Just learn your body and watch what causes your flares...stress..or emotional problems..or repetitive movements..helps to take break every 15-20 minutes..so you do not aggravate whatever body part your using...Good Luck ..can totally relate to what your saying...( also my electric blanket helps reduce the pain..I just wrap it around me until pain reduces...rest is the key..♥
