Hi, if you have had TMJ long enough I would say yes that arthritis is a joint disease and your jaw is a joint.
I have had TMJ since I was a teenager, first TMI, as kids we would smoke and blow smoke rings, to do this we moved our jaw forward then popped it back, not very smart I know, then as a teenager I had to have a couple molars pulled, it was a bad experience. My jaw started popping out of socket (very painful) now I am 55 and I believe that I not only have acute TMJ but also arthritis in my jaw.
I can't help you with the med part, sorry. Hug's

I have it in my jaw, so a def yes. Sometimes food like applesauce is my best friend.
