A lot of times Chronic Fatigue is associated with Fibromyalgia. It is not out of the ordinary for me to sleep 18 hrs. And I can't push myself to get out of bed if my life depended on it. But that comes in spurts. It is not all the time.
Thyroid tests are explained in full and why they are not very accurate for people with fibro esp. TSH I recommend any book by Dr Teitelbaum it has helped get my thyroid issues under control which is extremely helpful.
I take so many meds before bed I take ambien, remeron, xanax & other meds. Sometimes they don't work.
I have had the same problem. Can't fall asleep even with sleep aid sometimes and then when I finally fall asleep I can sleep all day. Like it is easier to fall asleep during the day. It takes no effort at all. I also have times when I fall asleep and wake up off and on all night long.
