One Of The Worst Symptoms

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

One question that I have is does anybody else have the issue of tinnitis (ringing of the ears)? I have had this off and on for several years. But now it is CONSTANT. It gets so loud at times that I have to turn up the TV. The left ear is worse than the right, but they both ring. Is it sad that I cannot wait to go to sleep so I don't hear the ringing. I saw a movie once about a guy whose ears rang all the time and I was so thankful it wasn't me. I never would have thought that it was real...oh… read more

Hi everyone, I have had tinnitus since I was 26, the fourth of July I lit a black cat firecracker and when I went to throw it, it blew up next to my left ear, the concussion hit me so hard it threw me up against the truck and to the ground I went. That little prank cost me 82% of the hearing in my left ear, ever since I have had tinnitus, it is constant and some times plays a little song like a xylophone, I always have my fan going, white noise and air movement, Dr said they can do nothing, I love the winter the snow isolates all the noise of life, but the ringing never stops, thank you all as I did not know others heard types of music, here I did think I was alone. So I am not nuts.😊

Yes it was one of my first symptoms and mainly in right ear. It fluctuates dependent upon sleep and stress levels. I highly highly recommend white noise as a therapy. It works best with ear buds or headphones. I swear by it. Some nights the ringing is so loud I can't sleep ... the white noise has saved me and I listen to it every night all night. There are maNY many types of white noise, brown noise, pink noise etc. Find the frequency that covers your ringing best... all you have to do is search YouTube. There are also apps for white noise. I promise you there is hope! I find that when I listen to my white noise it actually decreases the ringing afterward.

Jayfsh I have the same thing w/the heartbeat too. It was scaring me until my GP said it was a form of tinnitus. I don't have it all the time, but it is annoying. Thank you for your suggestion on the German study. I will have to investigate it.

There is an over the counter med called Lipo-Flavonoid (sp) that really helped me. You might want to give it a try. I took it every day for about a month then stopped but the ringing has not come back.

I stuffer horrible, started about 7 years ago, first the left ear than both ears. When the pain is high the ringing goes louder. I sle with my TV or put on some nice relaxing music to sleep. I’ve learned to check ant medications there’s no side effects of tinnitus or it becomes worse💜 Any body gone on a plane ✈️ how did it effect you?
