OK. Putting the don't mix drugs with alcohol speech aside for now, I'm gonna throw some 'real life situatins' at ya.

I used to be able to get some energy after a few beers or merloh-oh
Of course I'd feel way more confident in my skill set and gear up for a project. The more I got done, the more I wanted done, so naturally more drinks. I'd totally forget that a can't do stuff, and I'm a machine. A very broken one for the next forever. But now I have very high blood pressure So my… read more

Members openly discussed their search for energy while managing fibromyalgia, with many sharing the tension between wanting to feel capable and needing to respect their body's limits and medical restrictions like high blood pressure. Several members recommended supplements including iron, magnesium, calcium, D-ribose, L-carnitine, CoQ10, B-complex vitamins, and ashwagandha, while others mentioned medical marijuana (particularly sativa strains for energy) and prescription options like amphetamine salts or low-dose naltrexone as possibilities worth exploring with a doctor. A recurring theme was the importance of recognizing when feeling 'wired' actually signals exhaustion and adrenaline overload rather than true energy, with many emphasizing the need to pace activities, take breaks between tasks, and accept that managing fibromyalgia often means doing things differently than before, even when it feels frustrating.

For me it was getting out of denial I had Fibro..and rest in-between chores.I noticed if I keep going I get wired. So I had to tell myself I am getting wired ( which really means I am exhausted and adrenaline is pouring into my system) usually adrenaline pours in on a emergency situation ( fight or flight situation) but because we are sooo tired the body pours in pure adrenaline..) which is sooo bad for the body. That is what can cause a HUGE FLARE..when you stop...So when I notice I am getting wired..I back off rest..take a vicodin..then go back to a chore..its crazy who would of thought wired means tired?? The electric blanket helps with pain and relaxing..I keep it on my couch...it really helps for me to chill..Hope you can find out what works for you..its so hard to admit our life has changed and we have to do things in a different way that was a biggie for me too..!!!

For energy, try any sativa strain of marijuana. To wind down and relax, try any indica strain. The edibles last a lot longer in your system than smoking it, but smoking it hits you faster. I'm open to any other suggestions, so please keep me in the loop, too! Hugs!

Love info on the salts. When my legs flare, a hot bath with Epsom salts work well. Do to lack of hot water hubby has fixed hose to hot water heater and we run hot water direct into buckets and carry upstairs to bath tub.

I agree on the pot recommendation @A MyFibroTeam Member and the iron and mag/calcium.. Have you tried D-ribose, L-carnitine, co-q-10, b12 (you should use a b complex), vit C and ashwaghanda (for the adrenals), a bit of caffeine? They are all natural ways to increase energy production in the body. Just don't overdo the caffeine if you're sensitive. I eat some dark chocolate (I'd love to eat a
lot more!). Low dose naltrexone is prescription but I've heard a lot of people say it really helps their energy. A new antidepressant called trintellix can help with depression and also counters the cognitive 'fog'. I can't think of anything else right now. I hope that helps a little. I enjoy a little wine too but I don't find it helps my fatigue - too bad!πŸ˜‰πŸ˜Š

I take iron.magnesium and calcium every day and it has helped give me some energy. I agree with the alcohol does the same for me.
