Does Fibromyalgia Worsen With Time/age?
Hello, I am just curious if my fibromyalgia will worsen over time/as I get older? Or if any research has been conducted about that at all? Just want to know what to expect/ "look forward to"...
Thanks,
Jess
Yes, it gets worse as you age. I've been extremely tired after I got Kawasoki when I was 8. By my 20's in college, the fatigue was making me miss classes, other symptoms started cropping up (severe allergy attacks, getting sick easier, getting injured a lot (sprains) etc). I'm 34 now and I'm amazed at the amount of pain my body can inflict on me. I can't exercise anymore because of fibro inflicted injuries and pain and my fatigue is disabling. You're 25. Make a bucket list now and do everything you dream of while you still can. Choose a job that's easy on your body, low stress and pays well. Take it easy, eat healthy, exercise gently, rest when you need to. (Look up the spoon theory to show your friends and family). People always think about what they want to do before they die. For you, it's what do you want to do before the sickness gets worse and you can't do it anymore. My window for doing anything I wanted started closing by age 30 because my illness made me get hurt doing simple things and we all know fibro makes any pain worse. Assume your window is short and go live your life as fully as possible. This is the time to go after your dreams.
Thanks everyone! I appreciate the responses! That's what I fear is that it'll get worse with age. It's soooo frustrating that I'm only 25 but I physically and mentally feel like I am 50-60 already!! It's scary! Oh my favorite comment from other people though, (people who either don't believe in fibromyalgia, don't know about it and/or don't understand) say to me "why are you so tired and why do you hurt so bad? You're too young to be tired and hurting. Hunny you don't even know what tired and hurting is until you're my age." Psh... Yeah... If you only knew the half of it!!! I don't think anything else makes me as mad as that comment!!!
I would say so from what i hear , i amd getting worse on a daily basis. I fight fibro and it comes back fighting worse , so the meds never fix
I was diagnosed about 10 years ago and now I'm 42, yes as you get older it does get worse as you age I truly believe that...
That's what I was afraid of... If you don't mind me asking, how old are you and how long did it take for Fibro to worsen for you?
