Hi my friends! I can't get rid of these chronic migraines which are disabling me. Please share you experiences with meds you've tried. Preventive and abortive. I can't do abortive triptans due to heart affects, NSAIDS or Depakote are all out. Depakote was the worst drug I ever tried in my life! Petrified to try botox due to all my chemical sensitivities and because of my overactive immune system with having Lupus too. I am already on an organic, low salt, low sugar diet avoiding all… read more

I have been doing botox for migraines, just had my forth to day....it's kind of bittersweet it aches and is sore (head and neck, I get them in my shoulder and upper back) for a few days it might spark off a few migraines in the coming weeks but than I have about a month relief from both migraines and shoulder pain. And have to be careful that it does not set off a flare. ..so rest now for a few days.

This is a hard one. My migraine go on for days. I have made a cocktail for me. Anti inflammatory , anti nausea then tenston for pain. Dark and quiet. Dog snuggling. I get very anxious about this so sometimes take Alzam. I have tried lots of different things. My pharmisist works with me too. So together we sort something out. Right now this works. But I have to eat something( youghert) first. And get it in its early stages. Take care.

My whole family for generations has suffered from chronic migraines. My grandmother took so much Excedrin that it contributed to her death. My mom and her sister since high school were taking over the counter stuff for their migraines until their doctors prescribed narcotics. Decades of taking narcotics and Excedrin. That's all they had at the time. My mom's sister heard for this new treatment for migraines that used botox injected into the neck. They couldn't get on a plane fast enough to fly to Michigan? Wisconsin? Can't really remember it was so long ago. Long story short, they both tried it and my mom's sis never had a headache again. My mom ended up in the hospital treated for a massive migraine. So, as years went by, I think my mom tried every new drug that came out and I know what finally worked for her. imitrex injections and maxalt. Those were the two drugs that kept us from taking my mom to the hospital three times a week. Maxalt is a drug that you take as soon as you feel a migraine coming on. If you take it soon enough, you can abort the headache. I am the only person that does not get migraines. Why it skipped over me I'll never know. Count my blessings with fibro right? But two of my four kids have chronic migraines and my oldest is about to do the botox. She gets up to three to four migraines a week. I can't even imagine.
At the hospital a lot of my patients were on imitrex injections and maxalt.
I hope you find something to help.
