How much do you take for depression and does it help with your nerve pain! GP has just put me up from 100mg - 150mg!

Hi Agoo,
150mg is the maximum dose for Amitriptyline.
I use this site to check on my meds. The side effects list gets quite scary and as with all anti depressants, there's a lot.
You have to decide for yourself if you benefit from the meds. It takes several weeks to be fully in your system though and you have to go through a lot of side effects to get used to it unfortunately :-/

What time are you taking it? I find it ok if I take it & go to bed a bit earlier so that you get a good few hours sleep & then can feel a bit clearer in the morning ? Also would there be anyway you could get your employer to alter your work times to a bit later start ? You could get the GP on board if there's resistance to that? Xx

Nursebetty, yes I have a problem with certain meds and weight gain. They DO say taking medications WILL make you gain weight. I use to take a seizure medication and it made me have SUPER SUGAR cravings!!! I HAD to have sugar in my hands. Ruined my life really. I never use to eat sugary things and gained a good 40 lbs.Yep and am still fighting it every day! It the worst! I workout, I try to stay in a straight line and only have real foods but for some reason...if I feel real crappie, or my stomach hurts or have a migraine...I crave cookies, ice cream...whatever. so I think it'll never go away until I see a nutritionist or something. Meds suck.😕

I was on every antidepressant and many migraine drugs (Topamax is EVIL!) And had to get off them all
They helped minimally with pain and anxiety and were a hindrance to any thinking, writing, conversing, etc.
But that was just me...

Hi, I take 100mg Setraline for the depression with 75mg Pregabalin to help with neuro pain, plus Paracetamol and tramadol also for pain. In total about a dozen tablets morning and night. It just so amazes me how they all know where to go and can totally understand when some don't!!!! Lol 🐰🐰
