How are any of you getting to sleep? I will fall asleep, but it's only for 45 minutes and then it's off and on for four hours and then I'm just up. I've tried ambien, lorazepam, temazapam, flurazapam, valium, zanaflex, flexeril, sleepy time tea, melatonin, valerian root, and some antihistamines.

Members shared a wide range of approaches to managing chronic sleep disruption, with many reporting that medications like Trazodone, Amitriptyline, Gabapentin, muscle relaxers, and melatonin provided varying degrees of relief, though most still woke frequently and struggled to achieve more than four to six hours of uninterrupted rest. Several members highlighted the importance of ruling out underlying sleep disorders like sleep apnea through professional testing, as well as trying non-medication strategies such as rooibos red tea, lavender essential oils, sleeping in a recliner during painful nights, and combining multiple approaches to find what works. A recurring theme was the frustration of medications losing effectiveness over time and the exhausting trial-and-error process, balanced by hope when someone finally found a combination that worked, as one member celebrated that sleep was no longer an issue after persistent experimentation.

Trazadone let's me sleep, plus a CPAP. I take one Tylenol with one Tramodal to lower pain levels. My doc says there's a new expensive pill that is just that combination. Exercise of any kind does help me sleep and eat more healthfully. If I do wake in the wee hours I take a dose of liquid melatonin- liquid is assimilated faster.

Has anyone told you that you snore, snort, or stop breathing when you sleep? If so, you should be screened for sleep disorder like apnea or chronic obstructive breathing? Once my chronic obstructive breathing was diagnosed, and I went through a sleep study, I was able to sleep and mostly stay asleep, and my pain level decreased tremendously. I found that I hit REM sleep only once for 3 minutes in an 8 hour time period. The REM sleep is the deep sleep we need for muscle repair.

I also have used essential oils like lavender to help me sleep and relax. I use low dose of Amitriptyline or other antidepressant with high sed rate to calm my brain at night.
