I have gained 40 pounds since I started my one med.
Is there anyway I can do to lose it? Without stopping my meds?

I look pregnant n have been asked a lot. It's mostly my stop area

Hello there I can relate to your comment. When my anxiety and nerves are heightened, my normal weight is around 120. When I took Lyrica and Gabapentin I gained weight. I have been battling that bulge since I stopped those meds a year ago. Through meditation, yoga, and exercising three times a week my weight has filled out into my body and the bulge is smaller in my front stomach area. I weigh around 150 now and I'm 5'5. I feel great and comfortable in my body. I don't eat greasy foods and not many sweets anymore. Those are big belly bulgers. Keep a good diet and exercise more. Gentle hugs. Hope that helps you.

Low weightbaring cardio such as swimming laps or water aerobics are great ways to lose weight. Start off no more then 10 min and build up each week or at your own pace from there.

Hiya, I've been told by my doc that people with fibro have a lower metabolic rate than those who don't have it. We burn off 500 cals less according to doc. When l came off pregabalin l lost 10lbs really easy. Duloxetine is a great anti depressant and is also a good pain killer without gaining weight. Gaining weight is a really big issue for me, l was bulimic for 15 years, the only way l can lose any weight is by doing vlcd. Shakes instead of meals. I'm either in so much pain l don't have an appetite, or I'm so fed up and l crave sugar more sugar. Sugar!!! Xx

I got a referral from my Dr. for a well known weight - loss organisation , because of being pre-diabetic and having high cholesterol. I managed to lose four stone in a year, but my daughter, who is Autistic and has cfs and fibro is really struggling. Since having to use the wheelchair her weight wont budge. We just have to concentrate on the really important things - dressing comfortably, eating healthily, physio when she can manage it , and now she gets wheeled round everywhere its the ideal excuse for ridiculously high heels and green hair. Just do what you can with what you have.x

Embrace the voluptuous look! I've always been large and it is very disheartening gaining weight due to meds and just being depressed. And I totally understand people (doctors included) saying you just need to exercise more. I agree making myself move around even when I feel like dying does help; but in no way have I lost any weight. Personally I can't exercise a ton due to other physical limitations; so it really bugs me when it seems everyone's answer is "just exercise".Grrrr!
Being bigger it was hard to tell if my meds or lifestyle added more weight. after 7ish years I've found a stable weight. Eating normally and just living as I normally do, I've found a curvy yet stable poundage. My doctor says, yes he'd like to see me loose some, but he's OK with what appears to be my body's normal weight.

good luck
