Members shared widely varying experiences with going medication-free for fibromyalgia, with some finding relief through lifestyle changes like clean eating, daily exercise, yoga, massage, chiropractic care, and natural supplements such as magnesium, turmeric, and melatonin, while others discovered that prescription medications like Lyrica made a transformative difference in their quality of life. Several members emphasized that the decision depends entirely on individual symptom severity and personal tolerance for pain, with some choosing to manage discomfort without pharmaceuticals and others finding that medications allowed them to function and feel like themselves again. A recurring theme was the importance of patience, experimentation, and self-advocacy in finding what works best for your own body, whether that means embracing prescription drugs, exploring alternative therapies, or combining both approaches.

I am med-free now for approx 3 years but it wasn't until this last 4 months that things started to change for the better.I decided to CLEAN up my diet a lot and started meditating and exercising more frequently.I take several natural supplements that help with sleep and energy and i can honestly say i feel the best i ever have in years ;)( some days even normal/ which i haven't experienced that in years). It takes time and patients to reverse all the damage done to our bodies but it is doable i believe.Getting healthy from the inside out and what we put into our bodies is key,and the first step to a better * feel good* life.I know this because am am experiencing it as we speak, and doing this everyday. You have to get your mind headstrong too as it can be very challenging at times and disciplined but the longer you do it,the easier it gets! I feel like i am getting my life finally back after 9 years.

I have recently gone med free. I'm in a lot of pain however within myself I feel 100% better, I don't feel tired as much or sick, I feel more like myself again. it just depends if you ca cope with the pain. I use a lot of non medicated things to help

I hate the meds, I only take them when necessary. For me it is an expensive process to stay pain free, My week consists of walking daily, yoga, pilates, weekly massage, weekly chiropractor from head to toes, magnesium & turmeric tablets. Melatonin works well for me I have my compounding chemist put it into a liquid form and take it 30mins before bed to help me get a sound sleep so my muscles can relax. I prefer this than taking vallium regularly but I do believe the vallium works the best for me, I always wake up pain free the next morning.

I'm newly diagnosed but went through a year of trying different drugs and then no drugs (but then I was popping t3's like candy) finally I asked about Lyrica and within 3 days of taking it it was like someone flicked a switch and I was back to myself again! I still have good and bad day's but they don't compare to what they were before.

If your fibro is not too bad and you can function without a prescription med...do it. It all depends on your symptoms and what bothers you.
