Has Anyone Lost Their Voice After A Terrible Headache?

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question πŸ’
Diamond Point, NY

Hello, I was recently in a minor car accident and while I started to feel sick then, I just assumed it was just a fibro flare. When I got home I was very confused and in a lot of pain so I just figured it was the fibromyalgia. The day after the accident, I couldn't walk more than a few steps before I'd feel like I'd pass out. Yesterday, I began to lose coordination, my eyes got blurry, I got an extremely bad headache, I plopped down on the floor and I couldn't lift my head. My eye lids and… read more

I have found that when doctors treat a patient like an invalid-you have to treat the doctor as such. For example, my son was having seizures. The ER doc said they were febrile and he was fine. It happened several more times and without a fever and I asked for a referral to a neurologist. He refused. So at that point I looked him square in his eyes and said I hope you have really good malpractice insurance because if anything and i mean anything happens to my son because you refused something as simple and harmless as a referral I will sue you and this hospital. Next thing I knew the nurse was bringing me a referral. Earliest appt was 3 months away but less than 2 weeks later he was back in ER no fever had an 8 minute seizure. Had to dispense his medicine and call EMT. Doctor still acted like jerks until my son had multiple seizures right in front of them... He was admitted and in to see a neurologist the following week. Moral is YOU know your body better than any doctor (and as a mother-your child's) so DO NOT ever let them dismiss you. Ask for another opinion. Stand up for yourself. Threaten court action. Refuse to pay if they refuse to treat. Tell them to let you write. If you cant speak. Write a letter to hospital administration once you are better. But do not let them get away with not helping you. Medical care is too expensive and you are too important for your concerns to be thrown out like garbage. I'm sorry. I try to let go of my anger bit this one really upset me. You were obviously hurt. What kind of a doctor who swore an oath to help people would dismiss someone like that. Please find a second opinion and take care of yourself.

I had only a tiny bump in my car and made me feel awful but nothing like this I think is have called an ambulance immediately! Don't let your doctor make you feel bad, your health is important. I agree with MartieMalan you need to be checked by a Neurologist!

Whiplash is real - I had it after an accident when someone road off their car driving into the boot of my car. I had extreme migraines, neck and back pains and immediately went to the Chiro - I also needed a follow up as one consultation wasn't enough. Maybe you bumped you head and there may be swelling on the brain, pressing on the areas that control speech. If you can't speak, type out what you feel and go to the emergency of your nearest hospital and I'm sure an MRI should be done folioed by a visit by a Neurologist. So sorry, you had a bad experience with another unexperienced doctor. Hugs. Hope you get better soooon.
