Sleep

Like everyone else I'm sure, sleep (well staying asleep) just doesn't happen. What have you tried, and what works best for you?

Many people like melatinin supplement. The brain makes it naturally, triggered by light and dark cycles. Its important to put away electronics and turn off lights at least half hour before bedtime...these can prevent brain from making melatonin.

A nice herbal tea like cammomile can help you relax. Exercise earlier in the day, not near bedtime. Avoid afternoon and evening caffiene. Try to avoid long naps during the day...a 20min power nap can help refresh you without leaving you restless that night.

Try to deal with things that interrupt your sleep...pets, kids, a snoring partner, loud tv on late at night, tempetature, etc.

Soft music left playing in the background might help you doze back off quickly. A warm bath or shower right before bed. Snuggly blankets and pillows. Pain meds and water next to the bed so you dont have to get up for them.

Sleep meds arent good long term, but sometimes they are necessary. Take any meds that tend to make you drowsy at night instead of morning. I have used benedryl to help me nod off, or a muscle relaxer if my body is tense. I didnt like Ambien...made me too groggy the next day to function.

Hummmmm Now that is the question of the day . I was thinking of hiring someone to knock me out LOL But then would have other issues 😊 Hummm Sleep has not been my forte for years . But I do know without a Little it's so much harder to get and keep control over this Fibro . Yes for even a couple hours can make the whole difference now and in between. I've learned to take it as it goes or comes lol my way am or pm Try to sleep when ever you can yes amen . Have tons of meds but I don't want to be dependent on any drug . But I've smoke cannabis at night it helps me to sleep it also helps me to have an appetite . But just try and see what works for you that's what's important amen

Depends on why I can't sleep.....Pain makes it hard sometimes....I get pain in my head often and can not lay down without feeling like my head is swelled up or jaw feeling twisted....I lay/sit in recliner with my heading pad wrapped around my head....On days where its aches and pains all over my body I will wrap myself up in a heating blanket.....I take sleeping pills only when I am going to work or really need it due to lack of sleep for days on end...

I told my husband to hit me over the head with a mallet - but he refuses to do it. I find a very very very hot bath (in a jet tub) works for me - to the point of boiling (I usually look like a lobster when I'm done) - and then a glass of your strongest alcohol and 2 robaxacet.
