Staying Warm

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am freezing all the time which makes my already painful muscles even more tight. I use a heating pad and get under blankets but it doesn't work. Does anyone else have this problem?

I found out I had deficiencies in Potassium and Magnesium. It took a few weeks to see a change. Hope that helps some

I'm always HOT, wish I wasn't. I was in TJMaxx the other day and the guy working next to the handbags went and got me a couple of paper towels to dry my dripping face and neck! Thoughtful, yes, but also embarrassing! Need to get it checked out B.😘

I agree with what everyone is saying. I had the severe reaction to the cold when I was first DX along with the skin on fire inside and unable to wear anything that was not super, super soft. I did find out that my thyroid was not working correctly a few years again I was always tested and then my levels showed it. It took 2 more years and moving to a much warm climate before I stopped being like a deep freeze! When living in WI I would have to layer my clothes with thermals that where soft made out of cotton, I would wear tights, than my super soft cotton thermals legs and camisole, than a long sleeve super soft top over the bra out of cotton, after the camisole, I than would out a turtle neck sweater on and a wear over the top. Legs I would but legging over the under layer of cotton cable tights, thermals, than my work pants, and leg warmers to go out in the cold, I would wear everything but the outer layers at work. When it was really cold i would add a combination sock over the tights made out of cotton and light weight wool. I know you are all thinking could I move with all of tat on? Yes, the key is to find the lightest weight material and layer everything that would be the only thing that would keep me Luke warm in the winter. At my last job before my neck fusion, I took those expandable gloves that wear super soft cut the fingers off and sewed them to keep my hands warm when I toed on the computer all day. It was the only way I could fight off the sever deep freeze that I had in the end nothing kept me warm. That is why when I got my Social Security Disability we moved to where we are now. It made a world of difference. Good luck with what works for you to keep warm!
Gentle hugs!

Yes, I have this problem all the time. I keep the house set at 78, which works most the time. Some mornings when I get up I'm so cold that it hurts. I do have a woolen vest and wool pants that help me some, I wear them all winter and when its colder than 78. If I can't get control of the cold, I crawl under the electric blanket and rest. I never thought of being tested for Raynauds syndrome, thats why I love this forum, it points me in many directions, enabling me help with getting relief from pain.
