NSAID's
I can't take NSAID's or anything like Celebrex, Ibuprofen due to weight loss surgery....any ideas of supplements that I can take??? I have heard Tumeric I was on Celebrex 200 mg twice daily until my surgery 6 years ago.
Magnesium is great for muscle cramps. I take 500mg at bed time. Try some research on Diet. There are foods out there that do react with Fibro. A lot of trial and error goes on, but eventually You may find some differences, but it may take some time to notice the differences.
Eating natural foods that benefit your body and stay away from prepared foods I have found have made a big difference.
I forgot...there are natural inflammatory edibles some even taste good. When considering what you need in your diet, include these edibles. Once you've got your diet set for you, you will feel better...takes a lot of time and trial and error, but it's how you can incorporate these things into your diet. Your diet is a good place to work with fibro, eventually it comes naturally and you won't even feel like you are on a special diet and you can have fun making yummy things.
You can also take a bath in magnesium flakes or use a spray or ointment of magnesium. You can find those all at Amazon. Here's hoping for less pain!
There is a new DNA test that your Dr. Can order that can guide them with what pain medicine work. There is also one for depression and problems.. most insurance companies pay for them now
If you want more info I'll post the name and I found of company.
My pain doctor prescribed a medical food in the form of a capsule that is called Sentra am for morning to help with pain and fatigue and Sentra pm at bedtime for sleep, and the good thing with that is if you wake up in the night you can take another capsule. So far I have about equal nights for the week I've been on it of 1 pill or 2. I haven't had a sleep med work this well in a while.
I took Lyrica for a short time and loved that I felt no pain. However quickly put weight on--not a healthy side effect. Have been on Cymbalta in different dosages for several years. Seems to have stopped working, so now am gradually decreasing to get off of it. I'm starting to slowly lose a little weight; even tho' it didn't add pounds per se, it seemed to block my efforts to lose. Now adding 5-HTP and gotta add SAME-e, which is supposedly a good natural product for fibro. Also fish oil and Magnesium. I get nauseated from vitamins and other supplements, but no different than with drugs, so have to have a little something in my stomach. Trial and error and learning from others. Thanks for your sharing and advice! Hugs
