Reports That Fibro Is Linked To A Virus

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭
Glasgow, UK

A friend recently told me they saw an article that that fibro is caused by the herpes simplex virus. I can't find any reputable reports about this has anyone else?

I have often wondered the same. Ebstein Barr is the herpes virus and is "turned on" by some kind of aggravating factor. Just like all the herpes strains.
What I have learned being on this site is that most people here have had EB in their life at some point.
I have discussed this theory with my doctor and she says that she could totally see the connection and that it can't be just a coincidence. Something to definitely ponder.
She said the the University of Utah was conducting some alternative studies for causes of fibromyalgia and that maybe I should consider calling to volunteer as a participant.
Thinking about it. As long as it doesn't involve drugs I think it would be interesting.
Btw, there are some articles on the net about the theory you are talking about. I read anything and everything I can to be as educated as possible. I keep an open mind because that's the only way I can figure out what is right for me.

Dear @A MyFibroTeam Member
I have heard this! My Chiropractor thinks there is some link as well. I've been trying this electro current machine that I can't think of the name of right now that he wraps a warm towel around my neck and my feet and places the electo charge current to both the neck towel and the feet towel and let's it run it 70 min cycle! They use it for treating people that have an outbreak of herpes on there face and it cuts the healing down time to like two days instead of ten. He said he had apt ask him to do it for her genital outbreak and she said it also worked for a two day healing time. He said he couldn't advertise that but he wanted to share that information with me! Someone must believe there connected somewhere to do these trial free testing a for my pain. He's giving me two of the three free secessions and I can't say that I'm all the way better but it has helped me some so I can function though day to day life with my kids!
On a side note. I have had a ton of bloodwork done and this one workup they accedently tested my level of herpes in my blood?? Now I've had the worst I mean the worst cold sores fever blisters since I was eight years old. No I do not have genitial herpies nor do I have HPV which still amazes my Gynocolgist! Sense I had saverve displasia at age 18! Had some serious laser surgery for it back then. Doctors still to this day ask every doctor around to come on in and look when I was at the hospital. Now I find out they don't do paps on kids under the age of 20 years old because they have found that if cervical displasia shows up under that age it goes away on its own? What??? Just found this out three weeks ago! Old friends still ask me if I still get those sores all over my face? I've had them under control for years now and I don't know how to read ALL the levels on my bloodwork but it was the only number on there that was in the 9600 range. Not sure what that means but neither did the doctor that read it to me! Maybe I should find a doctor that dose look into things like this to try to figure things out! Yeah sounds good right? Let me know if anyone knows such a doctor!?Thanks for cyber listening

Epstein Barr virus is a herpes virus. It is said to b the cause of mono. It is supposeably linked to CFS.
I had mono was i was young, n also have Epstein Barr. I was dx with CFS 17yrs ago, after testing postive for EBV, then FM 6mos after that.
It is said to b one of those viruses that a lot of ppl have, n dont know. It lays dormant in ur body until something aggrivates it. It can b detected with a blood test.
I also had the chickenpox as a young adult, so waiting on shingles next.
I guess u can say im a walking herpe lol

@A MyFibroTeam Member how did they diagnose shingles at 13? I have a real curiosity because of a situation I had at 14..

I've never had that virus. Although I have read that a prolonged illness can cause symptoms.
