Does anyone know of any organizations, Grants, Scholarships or Financial Assistance available to pay for Alternative Healthcare? Over the years I have tried acupuncture-$100, massage-$100, chiro-$100, nutritional supplements like metobolic cleanse protein shake $75 per month, functional medicine doc $300-$175 per visit. It all works when you do it on a continued basis all together BUT....who can AFFORD to pay this every month??? It's so frustrating as I know that alternative healthcare… read more
Thanks everyone for your answers...its just so very hard being single with Fibro and also having to work to support myself financially while also trying to afford alternative healthcare solutions on my single income. Many agencies or non-profit groups have strict stipulations on "qualifying" for their financial assistance. Being single w/no children...a majority of the time you have to be in poverty (below 11K) to qualify. I just was putting this out there that SURELY someone by now has knowledge of programs or services that help those of us financially who are not married and not retired. The single people w/out children and not married and have to work and are in the age range of 40-55 are a bit of a forgotten demographic in regards to financial assistance for chronic pain. Fibro and fatigue sufferers.
What works for me is acupuncture. It actually makes me pain free.
My acupuncturists costs $60 a visit but my insurance covers it so I only pay $20.
I also do massage therapy which works really well also. I have joined their club which gives me an hour and a half massage for half the price. The only thing about joining their club is they require you to get the massage every month and they deduct it from your checking account every month.
As far as other treatment goes, in my experience if you talk to the person you want to go see and explain your situation, they will lower their price. Even doctors will do this if you tell them that you are in a financial bind.
There is also something I have heard about called Medashare. It's a co-op of people that all chip in to a pool to pay for your groups health care costs. This particular group is religion based but I know there are other co-op groups out there.
I know people are thinking that I am crazy to think that health care professionals will reduce their prices, but there are good people are out there and some will do it!
Check your insurance and see exactly what they will cover. You might be surprised and find they might cover some of the things you are interested in. Also, if you have a health savings card, it will pay for any of the services you have mentioned.
Hopes this helps a bit!

Please let us know if and or when you find help ok?? I do hope you find something for you 💜
I worked in county government and most of your grants/etc tend to go to agencies not individuals. I'm not sure if you are in the US or other so not sure if my comment applies in other countries. Usually the agency gets the grant and then they say in their application that they will serve a certain number of low income people. Maybe check around and see if any of the services you need will be offered at a lower cost because they have a grant.
Oh man!! So sorry!!! Sounds like you've been pretty thorough. It's hard when you find the one thing that works and then you can't afford it. It's just not fair.
I hope someone can give you some information that you haven't tried yet. Don't give up!
