Today I had my appointment with pain management and I was prescribed Butrans pain patch and meloxicam? I'm not sure about any of these medication and wondering if anyone has taken these and what can you tell me about it, I'm wanting to know what I'm getting into before taking them. Any help is appreciated! God bless

@A MyFibroTeam Member, Don't sell yourself *short, sweetheart. (I'm only 5 feet tall. LOL!). Anyway, if you are talking, you are sociable. If you *have relatives who *WILL talk with you, you are not alone. Wow! You are SO Blessed having a mother alive, Erica! My Mom died when I was 14 years old. :-o And a *Husband who is a *Best Friend? Except for pain challenges, you have it made! You have *Jewels and don't even realize it! You don't need to socialize with this outside world. Stick together. They can share about the pain of arthritis, and you, the pain of Fibro. We can all learn from one another. Sounds like they wouldn't mind. But those on "the outside?" You are much better off. :-) My kitty cat is my biggest company. She doesn't tell a thing I share with her. *She is my *Jewel! I am now *66. Don't know "why" I'm still here--except that The Lord wants me here for a *Purpose. HE Has *Purpose IN and For you, Erica! Even I can see this. You keep holding on! Most of all, you are never alone with pain. I pray that you have a better today and a Pain FREE Fibro. weekend! God Bless. *Jesus Loves You!

@A MyFibroTeam Member I see a lot of great responses here. And correct information. No need to re-hash the Meloxicam, that's been pretty well covered. It seems the Butrans is still in the shadow of doubt. I know a few people who have been on Butrans for quite some time. One for several years, with no tolerance developed. The other, maybe a year and a half before her insurance changed. Both had excellent results from the medication. Little to no side effects, except for once when there was a delay in receiving the med. They would guarantee it's efficacy. However, I know another woman who may as well have worn Disney stickers, because that's the amount of relief she got. And she started knowing the same two women, going in with an open mind. It works on the opioid receptors yet it's a non-narcotic. It is controlled, due to the potential for abuse, just like tramadol is now. You know your body, and know when something is really wrong, and when it's not. That's the only way to know if they're going to help you or not. I highly recommend puttingit on first thing in the morning, and keeping a phone handy, take it easy and just watch yourself. I'm here in town, remember that. If you need anything...

I used the butrans patches. I am allergic to the adheiseve. Got excellent pain coverage. It also comes in bucal film"desolves in mouth" and pill form. The film is called Bellbuca. Dont know what the pills are called. The Meloxicam is an antiflamatory. It was the only one that didnt bother my stomach.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I asked about the patch at the pain clinic yesterday and she said I'm too young to be on that. So low dosage of hydrocodone for me and she asked who is treating me for fibromyalgia. Ahhhhhh! A believer! I'm thinking she might be treating me for fibromyalgia very soon. I've only been on Lyrica for nerve pain and that has calmed down the pain. But yeah, when a flare cones on, I have no idea what to do but wait it out. Steriods help tremendously! But they make you hungry. Can't stay on them very long either. They help with inflammation. The hydrocodone helps with neck and back pain and the headaches usually, but not always. Sorry so long. She says she doesn't want me to get used to high doses of pain meds and I definitely get it. :) I hope it's helping you a little better soon. Hang in there girlfriend, changing or starting new meds isn't any fun and actually when I first started the hydrocodone all I did was pass out. Lol. So yeah it's tough. Love you! :) Smiles and hugs β™‘ Shilo

Meloxicam is the only med I have tolerated. It's a good anti inflammatory. But be careful on dosage . Took a extra dose cause didn't think it was working... I ended up very sick ,hot flashing and passed out . Thought I was going to die
