Restless Leg Syndrome At Night

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question ๐Ÿ’ญ

How do you cope with restless leg at night?

What do you do that helps?

How do you sleep?

What do you take for it?

I'm having a nightmare with it. I want to cut my own legs off. The pain goes from my knee down.

Members shared their struggles with severe restless leg syndrome at night, with many expressing empathy for the original poster's desperation and pain that radiates from knee to foot. Several members described practical strategies that have brought them relief, including standing on cold floors during episodes, trying over-the-counter options like Alka-Seltzer Plus for its calming effect, and in more severe cases, working with doctors to find prescription medications or injections that provide meaningful pain control. A recurring theme was the intersection of RLS with other conditions like fibromyalgia, the frustration of doctors being hesitant to prescribe stronger medications, and the importance of persisting in advocacy until real relief is found.

Hi my gp has me on a tablet for restless legs. It's actually prescribed for parkinson sufferers but is also approved for rls. It's called Sifrol here in oz but the chemical name is pramipexole hydrochloride monohydrate. It definitely made a difference when I started taking it. I only take 1x0.25mg tablet at night about 2 hrs before bed. It can cause some drowsiness as well.

Have you had both potassium and magnesium levels checked? A shortage of one or both can cause restless legs. Dr. should approve taking them though, since they can interact with some meds.
