Clothing Problems
Alright ya'll. Clothes hurt 90% of the time and I have such a hard time finding clothes that are comfortable. I absolutely cannot wear jeans. My skin feels like it is ripping off and on fire. I hate long sleeves and even just t-shirts have to be very very loose in the arm area. I tried pants that are jegging material and those are hit or miss, but lately I can't even wear those. I live my life in comfy shorts (only the soft flowey material)
My question is, does anybody have any other… read more
I'm a butch lesbian so my style vs. yours may vary. The mighty just had someone publish an article about clothes good for chronic pain (disibility and mental illness community with article style postings). Personally they weren't useful to me. There is a woman planning a fibromyalgia clothing line which sounds great but may lean too feminine for me. I think most fibro people will be happy with them provided they have some tasteful design and are comfy! The article about her was on the mighty too.
Being that I am a large person, mostly from something hormonal going on, psych meds causing massive weight gain I have decided my preference for who makes my clothes are those dedicated to plus size and how exactly the clothes need to fit. I signed up at fullbeauty (a plus size catalogue from a normal large thru size 34) and have ordered from swimsuitsforall (for swim suits, similar range of sizes though fits medium too). Fullbeauty has their own line of pants that has elastic waists that bother me far less than jeans, but still have a similar appearance: woman within. They have pretty soft t-shirts. I wear a lot of flannel shirts. They are pretty cheap so long as you catch one of their sales.
Clothing is pain so I have navigated as soft as I can go. I have heard you can buy a cheap hair conditioner in bulk and soak your clothes in it, though have never tried it. I believe a fabric softener would work similarly and probably be better for the clothes. Sometimes I look at sensory processing disorder or autism clothing resources because my nervous system doesn't care what diagnosis I have only that it hurts. I still can't wear belts and look for one that works without pain but no luck!
On my worst days I sit in a warm bath of epsom salt anyway, it's the only thing besides the quell I have helping and they hoth only do 5% or so.
I totally understand what you're saying! I like dressing up but it's hard finding comfortable nice clothes.
I tend to wear skirts and dresses/tunics. In winter i wear them with leggings(not super tight ones though) and knee high flat heeled boots. I try and get things in stretchy material and that are loose fitted which sometimes means going up a size.
And usually if I am home I hop straight into pj pants. haha those are my stable items.
I only wear jeans if I am feeling good, in flares the idea of putting jeans on makes me cringe!
Skirts!!! I love skirts and they come in so many styles. My currant favs are sports skirts. Some have little loose shorts under them. They are made of some great and comfortable fabrics.
I am vacationing in Oregon right now and I have worn a different skirt all four days so far.
They go really well with sport tanks, zip up hoodies, and any cute T.
Have fun shopping!

Yes- I can only wear cotton and sometimes the thread in the seams causes pain. Cotton t-shirts are the most comfortable for me. I hope you find some answers.
@A MyFibroTeam Member I do have issues with clothes I tend to wear T-shirts or loose and flowy and soft materials. I have a huge issue with bras. They cause me pain in my shoulders and had to keep moving the straps around until I bought a sports bra. They are so comfy I don't even notice them and yes I bought a lot of them. I usually go for the yoga type and yoga pants are so comfy as well. I tend to tear stuff off at night and totally unaware either it is irritating me or causing pain jewelry, clothes. One morning I woke up because I was unable to move my feet as I also have RLS I had my pillow case on my feet. lol
