Does Anyone Else Have Continual Mouth Ulcers And Painful Tongue Sores?

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question πŸ’
Leicester, UK

I have a dry mouth anyway, but my meds have made it worse and I keep getting constant mouth ulcers and very painful tongue sores.
I don't know what to do with them and they're causing great discomfort.
This is another fibro symptom but one that isn't mentioned much and no help or pain relief suggestions are available.

For dry mouth use Biotene. Its great.
For mouth sores vitamins C, A and zinc as well as herbs such as echinacea and wild indigo. In addition, two B vitamins in particular – folic acid (B9) and thiamine (B1) – have been shown to heal and prevent mouth ulcers.

Hope you feel better😊

Yes I get mouth sores all the time and they hurt like hell. I also have dry mouth I believe from my meds and like you, never leave the house without a bottle of water! I have the painful burning tongue as well and it drives me crazy. I used to think I got this from something I ate that gave me the sores and burning tongue and I do think some foods irritate it of course but now I realize it just comes and goes whenever it wants!!! Oh the bloody horrible, painful life of fibro! Who would ever have thought it would affect the insides of our mouth!!!

@A MyFibroTeam Member, I too bite myself when eating and sometimes talking!
Also, once I have bit my lip you can guarantee that I will bite it again in the same place. Megga painful!!
It seems as if the tooth fairies have visited in the night and swapped my teeth for a different set that don't fit my mouth properly! lol

Many things can cause them. Stress, exhaustion, fever...

The set stuff and sugars aren't the trigger for me as I don't eat anything like that. We don't have biscuits in the house and I don't eat sweet puddings or sweets of any kind either, I'm not a sweet toothed person, never have been, nor even as a child. I much prefer savoury foods without sugar in.
Would be nice if I could find a trigger but I can't. It started to get worse when my fibro got worse and had carried on since. It now seems to be a warning that I getting a flare up coming on and if I get a cold it pays up big time and my mouth is so painful.
It even affects my lips and makes them dry and cracked so they split, just as if I've been out in freezing temperatures all week but I haven't. Fibro itself is bad enough but this on top is terrible and gets me down so much. πŸ˜•
