Is Arthritis In The Hands Common With Fibromyalgia?

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭
Sherwood, OR

Over the past few months I have had increasingly painful jabs in my hand. Sometimes I can’t even open my hand enough to open a door with a door knob. Is this common? If so, what should I do?

It seems to be common to have fibro as well as an autoimmune condition as well. I am being treated for RA, as well as fibro- sometimes the hand pain is so much that I just sit with my hands wrapped in a heating pad. Your rheumatologist can test/ treat.

Yes, especially in the morning and at night for me. I try to exercise my hands when they feel stiff by moving my fingers in and out even a bit to loosen them up. And order medicine balls on amazon (with different intensities -- soft, medium, hard) so you can use them to exercise your hands when they're stiff

I have that, and unfortunately often. I use thermal muscle patches on back of hands when it's unbearable. They work pretty good for me.

I have the same issue. My hands get what i would call electric zaps. I am also getting sorted for RA and gout. So fibro is on top. In the morning the stiffness and fatigue are beyond tolerable. Hands are like claws. I write code so its a mission to get though a day. Fibro so i hsve been told by the Rhemmy is a result of the auto immune condition and does not csuse inflamation
