Fibro & Mononucleosis Aka Epstein Barr Virus & Traumatic Experiences At The Same Time

I want to see how many people had a bad case of Mono and then got Diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.

In also I keep seeing people who were diagnosed with Fibromyalgia after a traumatic event (physical, emotional or both).

Me- Bad case of Mono, at the time was a RN and did NOT take time off from work. All of my breaks were spent laying down on a couch in the back of the office. At the same time was living with the PA who ran the office and now I believe he had and still continues to have… read more

I have reactivated ebv, FM, and CFS. I remember waking up after 16 hours of sleep in emense pain and feeling exhuasted. Which eas very unusal for me. I ended up in the ER and only made it a couple more weeks in college, having to take a medical leave. Ive been completely disabled since then. EBV took over my life. Im trying new supplements (red marine algae, CoQ10, magnesium, licorice root) to try to boost my energy and immune system. So far, i havent found anything to cure this dreadful illness

I had mono 30 years ago. It was a really horrible case of it too and I was sick and mostly bedridden for 2 whole months. I was a freshman in college at the time and failed most of my classes due to the mono being so bad, I was laid up in bed 14-16 hours a day in my dorm and could not make it to my classes. The Dean insisted I withdraw for the term so I would not flunk out but my mother would not allow me to, saying she had mono too in college for a couple of weeks and it was not a big deal! Yeah, right. I had 6 vials of blood withdrawn every 2 weeks for the 2 months since my white blood cell count basically crashed. I could barely walk and often could not hold down food.... Needless to say, my mother had Fibro and so did I. We both had mono. I am not sure there is a real correlation as there are many theorems out there as to what causes Fibromyalgia, with Lyme disease and mono as well as pesticides, food additives ( such as diet soda pop sweetener and preservatives and coloring in our food), air pollution, global weather shifts and invisible energy such as microwaves and satellite transmission for our "grid" being on the table as causes. I tend to go with the latter five since there are so many cases of Fibromyalgia in the last 10 years, it's ridiculous! Mono and Lyme disease have been around for a very long time and the majority of people do not get Fibromyalgia from them. There is no proof yet. It may be however, that these diseases affect something in our bodies to weaken our immune system. Perhaps some people never recover and get Firbo as a secondary disease? It's possible. We just don't have enough case studies and answers yet. Hopefully, we see more statistical research being done with Fibromyalgia so we can finally find out exactly what causes the disease so it can be prevented.

Oh.by the way..my twin brother had Mono.for years..and was left with extreme chronic fatigue..for life..and he has peripheral neuropathy.. So we both have nerve damage..and chronic fatigue.I think he has Fibro also..but he has a high tolerance for pain..so I personally think he just ignores it and says its his back..causing pain..or other issues..but I have seen through the years..,that he is getting more and more symptoms of Fibro..( but that is my diagnosis..LOL )

Yes I have had acute EBV for 20 years...and also right before I was diagnosed with Fibro..I had my mom, dad, and Grandmother die within the year prior to getting a HUGE Fibro Flare..I do believe there is a connection with EBV..and getting Fibro..and when a traumatic event happens..Fibro becomes full blown. Some Neurologist are saying Fibro is nerve damage.( which I tend to agree with )..which explains why after a traumatic experience..the nerves are affected..( toooo much stress) and the symptoms of Fibro surface. Also after doing a lot of research on EBV..when you have prolonged EBV ( Years ) studies have shown., there is a connection of getting M.S. and other diseases..EBV when acute..and prolonged..breaks down the immune...and allow other diseases to surface.I have had Shingles twice. So yes I agree there is a connection..Thank You for your post..gentl hugs your way..
