Does Anyone Else Have Trouble Swallowing?
Since I also have epilepsy, I can’t tell which issue it is. I often have trouble swallowing and sometimes I even have trouble breathing and I have to pull on my neck skin to relieve it. Any similar issues??
Omg you just described symptoms I've been having for awhile. !! My throat, ears . Hard to swallow sometimes. Shortness of breath ,very bad. I've been diagnosed with Fibro 8 yrs. Ago. But didn't know those symptoms. Thank you for your info.

Hi
Its actually a common symptom through the long years of having this, the swallowing feeling. Sometimes I struggle to swallow. It has come up as a symptom in research. There may be a few complex reasons that patients get this symptom. It's known as Dysphagia. Fibromyalgia does cause problems in the muscles and of course there are muscles everywhere including the esophagus.
Well I've had this as a symptom throughout my life.
Does this mean that it's fibromyalgia or epilepsy? To be sure you would need to see a medical practitioner. It's important to remember that even if it's a common symptom in fibromyalgia, it is still possible it's something else. So to be safe one should always have it checked.
I can only share my lived experience of having this condition.
Shortness of breath, feeling a tightness around the throat and neck are common for me. Struggling to catch your breath.
Nose throat and ear problems are common. Everything is connected, there are nerves and muscles everywhere.
Sinus problems are common, stuffy nose, blocked nose, ear ache etc nasal drip sometimes. Sore throats.
The throat itself has many muscles. It's also common to get a lost voice, sounds like you have a cold but you dont.
Epilepsy is complex and both fibro and epilepsy may have overlapping symptoms. Always have them checked.
Well my arm is aching now.
So I must go.
I do hope you feel a bit better soon.
Hugs

I've had to give up raw carrots. I think because they are chewed up into smaller pieces, but not ever really "mashed", there is always some pieces that just won't go down. Sometimes even food that can be mashed up - like cheese has to be chased with water in order to get it down the gullet. I am a choking AND a fall risk - big time.! Like my son so kindly says - "Dinner and a show!"
Yes, I have this on and off. Some days it's just the feeling of having a hard time swallowing, some days it's so bad it actually makes the throat space right under my chin hurt. Other days it's so bad that when I swallow, I feel like I actually have something stuck in my throat or even low sinuses/ear. It is SO weird. When I get like that, I take a full .50 clonazepam rather than my .25 that I try to take morning/mid afternoon. I also have weird things like a burning mouth and nose sometimes, the taste of metal in my mouth or like biting on tinfoil. I have constant pain in my left thumb, some days my hands go numb while sleeping. Then the newest....my left leg. It feels like there's a pain deep down in my bones and my skin feels like it is being pulled very tight. It hurts to the touch. Ankle feels sore, Feels like I have a bad crick in my neck. Oh the endless joys of my new "friend" fibro. My lifelong friend who tries their best to make me go insane.
Yes I do defo .
