Does Anything Else With ME/CFS & Fibro Have Problems Where They Always Seem To Be Sleeping??

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I just seem to not be able to stay awake for much longer than approx 3-5 hours at a time but can sleep for over 48 hours at a time. Of course I'm woken up to take my meds twice a day & use bathroom breaks then otherwise sleep all the time. Does anybody else have this problem??

@A MyFibroTeam Member I find my problem most days is getting to sleep even when I’m exhausted and pain level is low my head just doesn’t shut off but once I do fall asleep sometimes I stay asleep for a long time other times my body wakes me up with high pain level again

I used to want to sleep a lot. Now it's bouts of not even getting sleepy. I can get tired but not sleepy. Seems for many Fibro sufferers it's a balancing act going from one extreame to the other. Either sleeping too much or can't sleep. Oh and the peeing some have mentioned.
Sometimes urine output is a lot.

Some sleep lots & others like me have chronic insomnia, painsomnia & EXTREME fatigue! I n all the research I have done through the years, there never seems to be a happy medium.
With me medication doesn't seem to be that effective with helping me sleep.

People who have fibromyalgia usually have trouble getting restorative sleep. If I can exercise it helps, but pain wakes me up a lot. Not sure if its a separate issue or related to the pain, but typical. I know my pain can be worse at night, then I might be tired during the day when not doing well, or fatigue is also a symptom. It can also be a side effect of the medications. Can you see a sleep specialist? Can you take melatonin or benadryl or something else at bedtime?

I have both fibro and ME/CFS. I am exactly the same. No amount of sleep is ever enough, I often fall asleep while being on the phone or even in conversations sometimes. I have B12 injections every three months for a deficiency but my levels are normal now and other than CFS there seems to be no other cause for me sleeping so long. I also have severe nightmares each time I sleep
