Tickling Is Painful Instead Of Laughter-inducing?
I’m curious how many of us here found being tickled as a child painful instead of making us laugh. I always found being tickled to be something like torture. I still feel more pain than giggles when I am tickled. Anyone else notice this in their memories or currently?
I hated being tickled when I was a kid, it was very painful. My brother knew that, so he use to use it as a way to torture me. I still hate being tickled as an adult, not only does it hurt, it also makes me feel like I am going to vomit. My children know not to tickle mommy.
Many sensations appear to convert into pain. Play-fighting is the worst - wrestling feels like my skin being torn. And why do so many men feel they have to crush my hand instead of shaking it?? That's not just my sensitivity, that's some macho bs on their part. I can't even stand coarse fabrics, and clothes labels sometimes feel like razorblades!
I’m beginning to see a bit of similarity here. I wonder if that may be something we can watch to correlate and maybe predict a possibility of developing fibro later... because the children in my family have all seemed to love being tickled - my grands often beg us to tickle them again. Me - i thought it was torture! I had one uncle who ALWAYS tickled me when we saw him. I hated going around him until i was old enough that it would be inappropriate for him to tickle anymore.
@A MyFibroTeam Member yes! Those sensations here too!
