Does Anyone Else Have Chronic Anxiety
i wake up with anxiety and have it until I go to sleep. does anyone else have this problem? i take xanax for it but it makes me super groggy, which i can't have because I have 4 kids and work full time. does anyone have any other suggestions for treatment options?
My daughter was diagnosed with GAD last November and was prescribed fluoxetine. That together with counselling/ therapy has worked for her. She is now off the medication and no longer attends therapy. She still gets anxious but she can control it better. Hope you feel better soon.
Yes, all the time 24/7, excitement=anxiety for me also. Not only anxiety but positive excitement takes me to overdrive, bouncing off the walls mentally and sometimes physically too. Terrible, sometimes even my blood pressure goes up with it. Exercise, relaxation, meditation, whatever makes you relaxed, perhaps massage, facial anything, you will know : )
Xanax may have rebound effect, meaning as it leaves your system you became even more anxious, more hyper than before. Xanax is for short term, acute problem. Psychotherapist said once to me to do whatever I do but do it in a less frantic mode. It makes sense but hard to do it. For some people SSRIs might be helpful, such as buspirone . No medication ever worked for me : ( SSRIs have adverse effects, benzos makes me tired, unmotivated.
Wishing you all the best, hope you find a way to control your anxiety.
Below is a link to an article discussing treatment options (perhaps you can ask your doctor about it):
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10...
"Treatment
Initial therapy may consist of the administration of a benzodiazepine for 2to 6 weeks or buspirone hydrochloride for several months
Antidepressant medications need to be taken 3 to 4 weeks before the onsetof action. If used, they are often initially paired with a benzodiazepine
Cognitive therapy is also effective for GAD; it may be better thanpharmacotherapy. The combination of cognitive therapy and medication improvesoutcome over treatment with medicationalone2
There is no well-designed study of the long-term treatment ofGAD3
Buspirone
Among patients with GAD who take buspirone, 54% have significant clinicalimprovement compared with 28% of patients who takeplacebo4
Buspirone and benzodiazepines have similarefficacy5
Buspirone is effective only if taken regularly
Adverse effects—headache, nausea, and dizziness—are mild andinfrequent. Unlike benzodiazepines, buspirone does not impair memory, cognitive performance, or driving skills. It has no sedative-hypnoticeffects
Buspirone has no potential for dependence, withdrawal symptoms, or reboundanxiety after drug withdrawal
In one observational study, buspirone was shown to be safe to use for aslong as 1 year6
Probably less relapse occurs after buspirone treatment than after treatmentwith benzodiazepines"
Oh lord yes. Its awful. I Breathe through it thats all i can do. Dr's took away the only med that worked. Unbelievable. Take care
Yes, celexa is helping. There are lots of other meds, too. Sometimes it takes time to find the right med and dose for u, as everyone is different.
I get it real bad during my flares and I’m a shaking anxious mess for most the day which also makes me have less patience with my two kids. I usually take Valium on those days. I don’t like taking a daily anti anxiety med so I found this works best on my bad days.
