Uterus Ablation
Hi everyone,
Has anyone here had an ablation due to pain? My ob gyn has recommended it for me for my pain level and heavy bleeding. I am 27 and already have my tubes tied.
I was wondering has anyone felt this is beneficial for them in terms of pain? Recently after the birth of my 2nd child I've not only been dealing with severe fibro pain, but i was diagnosed with epilepsy and its not well controlled at the moment. I have a pitituatry tumor as well and i just feel if i can remove some… read more
@A MyFibroTeam Member The diagnosis was Adenomyosis " which occurs when the tissue that normally lines the uterus (endometrial tissue) grows into the muscular wall of the uterus. The displaced tissue continues to act normally — thickening, breaking down and bleeding — during each menstrual cycle. An enlarged uterus and painful, heavy periods can result." Previous C-section might have caused the adenomyosis.
I also had /still have lots of abdominal pain, pulling sensations and I also think of the possibility of scarring because of the C section, but there is not much doctors can do about it. If they do the surgery and try to release the scarring, that may provoke further scarring : ( Apparently the bowels may stick to each other because of the surgical intervention. They are not sliding easily like before and that may cause a lots of problem from digestive issues to terrible pain etc.
I have read that in the UK some doctors provide massage treatment to dissolve or help with scarring with good results.
I had severely painful periods (vomiting and passing out!) and to say they were heavy was an understand. Then I had a period that lasted from September 2017 to January 2018. I had the ablation and for exactly one month everything was perfect. But on the 30th day, the pain and flow returned with a vengeance. I had to have a partial hysterectomy. My insurance required the ablation first. The partial hysterectomy was the best thing to happen!
you had questioned possibly getting an ablation for pain.
What kind of pain are you having ? And where is the pain located? Do you feel the pain is from your Fibro ? Or from your period?
@A MyFibroTeam Member I had an ablation about 20 years ago. My OBGYN recommended it to me due to severe pain & excessive bleeding. Having this procedure was the perfect decision for me & I have never regretted it. It was an out patient procedure at the hospital. There was very little discomfort after the procedure. For the first 3 or 4 months I had a very short & very light 1 to 2 day period. They eventually stopped completely.
I hope this information helps.
Gentle hugs,

@A MyFibroTeam Member It was an outpatient procedure. In an out in an hour and a half. They actually did it in a surgical suite at my OB/GYN's office. I hope you find relief.
