Reversal Of Routine

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello all, does anyone find that the day is terrible and as it gets towards late evening ‘bedtime’ things get easier?

I can’t sleep at night, very anxious and restless in bed but it seems not quite as bad as the day. In the day all I feel like doing is sleeping, not moving feeling so ill.

I wondered if this was common?

Members widely confirmed that reversed sleep-wake cycles are common with fibromyalgia, describing mornings filled with exhaustion and pain that gradually improve throughout the day, only to be followed by increased energy or restlessness at bedtime. Several members shared strategies that have helped, including taking sleep medications like Ambien or Imovane, doing gentle Pilates exercises when possible, watching movies in bed to relax, and combining medication with psychotherapy for better results. A recurring theme was the frustration of being trapped in a relentless cycle of poor sleep, daytime fatigue, and nighttime wakefulness, with some members experiencing such severe symptoms, including Restless Leg Syndrome, that they are unable to work.

Fibromyalgia symptom is not getting deep sleep. I was prescribed Imovane 25 years ago and take it at bedtime and fall asleep and sleep well.

Yes. I sleep badly as well. Got a job to get out of bed in the mornings with the pain. But as the day goes on i start feeling better. Always fall asleep after lunch. Then i improve some more into the evening. All starts again next day. It’s like being on a merry go round. x
